I just have to say...

the comments on the most recent post about the hantavirus is exactly why I hate when you guys say variations of "I don't keep up with news". Whenever theres a post about someone being overwhelmed by news and whats going on in the world yall always say " stop watching the news. This is why I don't keep up with that stuff." Ignorance is bliss I'm sure, but do yall not realize if there was something immediately serious going on you wouldn't even know until it's too late. I do not think I could live with myself if my family was in danger and I just stuck my head in the sand. There's better ways to manage anxiety and being overwhelmed by what's going on than running away from it.

There has to be a balance between being informed and spending too much time and energy on news. It wasn't until recent history that people were able to access news 24/7 right at our fingertips. Human brains aren't wired to receive constant bad news all day every day from all corners of the world. Of course, it's good to be informed about the big things, but no one should be expected to be informed all the time about everything.

Also, everything is sensationalized these days. I can recall probably 10-15 headlines I've seen in the past 5 years about the "new pandemic" coming our way (all referring to different viruses). If I freaked out about each one (plus all the hundreds of other topics I "should" be worried about), I wouldn't have time to live my life!

😂😂 I've heard about 3 different viruses being "the next pandemic" since COVID. I don't keep up with the news because of the people that pick and choose what to put on it. They only put up what's most scare mongering and it's pointless. They're just trying to distract us from everything else going on in the world (trump and impending war, the Epstein files ect.) blissful ignorance is the way to go 😂 if something was going to happen I'd still rather spend my last days at the park or spending time with my babies because let's be honest knowing about it what can you actually do? You should already be taking hygienic precautions when there's children about

My mother is a bag of nerves enough for me to not have to watch the news. She reports everything 🤣🤣🤣

I rather live in peace than fear personally. Everyone is gonna die someday. I make the best of every day while I’m here. The next hour isn’t promised

I mean, if you swing too hard into the news cycle is can be extremely bad for your mental health. The stress of trump being reelected nealy cost me my pregnancy and i had to take a LOOOONG break from the news just because of how much stress it has caused. Ive had friends that have relapsed on drugs or their milk supply dried up from the stress of the news.

Im a huge advocate for staying informed and media literacy, but if its affecting your mental health, burying you head in the sand is exactly what you should do if youre struggling to cut back.

There are people that never watch news, but do read articles from time to time such as myself. 😅 So while I never watch the news, I do see articles and if they interest me I read them. Just because we aren't watching daily news all day long doesn't mean we aren't up to date on things that's going on, as for the hantavirus I can see why many would simply dismiss it concerning the way the world is run today and that 90% of MSM is copy and paste.

I don't always keep up with news.
I've been busy with work (sats week next week IYKYK) and my son and my partners birthdays. Plus we went away last week and are visiying family this so I've had a lot of washing and unpacking 🤷‍♀️

Sometimes, I just have other things going on in life and reading the news (we rarely have tv on and once kids have gone to bed, I just want peace or the gym) is last thing on my mind

I first heard today from my partner and dad.

If you can achieve balance, great. Some of us cannot and get sucked in to worry, plus the news is often negative. The world is not always negative but reporting often is . Doesn't mean I never watch or read news but it's not always my 1st priority
