bookworms, is dracula worth a read?

the only piece of classical literature i have read was frankenstein and omg i was s o bored. i went into it having seen GDT frankenstein which i adored, and with the prior knowledge that it was about a scientist who built a body, that was it. i found its format slow moving, and boring, and i really don’t love having to read older english because it makes me feel like im progressing way slower.

the only real knowledge i have of dracula is that it’s an old classic, and that it’s about a vampire. other than that i know nothing. like actually nothing. but i recently have a slight interest in reading it so, would you say it’s frankenstein adjacent if you’ve read it? is it even worth it for me to try or am i setting myself up for a months long endeavor because i can’t find the motivation to pick it up?

also i really struggle to read books written by men because (at least in modern times) everything is so over described and just sexual for no reason

If you found Frankenstein by Mary Shelley boring, you’ll find Dracula boring too. It’s just the writing style of the time. I find things like Dickens and Austen hard reads. I gave up twice on Moby Dick.

Dracula is exciting! I’ve read it a few times. If you’re looking to get into classics Treasure Island is also really fun and pretty short.
