Nicknames for Penelope
Does anyone have experience of having a Penelope and what it has been shortened to? We like Nellie but are less keen on Penny. Are there any other nicknames from this? And do you think people will inevitably shorten the name?

Yes I think people will inevitably shorten the name unless she specifically tells people not to. If you like Nellie then you can start using Nellie and then everyone will follow suit. I do think though if she generally ends up going as ‘Penelope’ then people will probably shorten it to ‘Pen’
Really pretty name. I think if you shortened it to Nellie, people would go with what you’re saying. I was called Millie as a baby and my dad, stepmum and bros call me that and other family friends. Nellie is cute
My daughter is actually a Nellie, if you like this name maybe consider just using that, or having Penelope just as a formal name on the birth certificate to stop other people using random nicknames
My Penelope is a Poppy but I also call her smelly Nellie 🩷
Though everyone calls her Pea.
