From what I can see, the test was negative for Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), Trisomy 18 and Trisomy 13, which is good news. However, the lab has found an unexpected amount of X chromosome material, which means there may be a sex chromosome difference, but the test can’t tell for certain whether that finding is coming from the baby, the placenta, or even sometimes from the mother’s DNA.

NIPT is a screening test, not a diagnostic test, so this isn’t a diagnosis. It’s basically saying they found something unusual involving the sex chromosomes and they’re recommending genetic counselling and possibly further testing to find out exactly what’s going on.

I’d speak with your OB/midwife as soon as you can so they can explain the result and discuss any follow-up testing. Try not to panic though, because these results often need more investigation before any conclusions can be made. ❤️

I think it’s saying there is a possibility of a sex chromosome issue but they cannot be sure if it is from the baby’s dna or yours. Did a little google and found this which explains ‘sex chromosome aneuploidy’ https://prenatalscreening.com/prenatal-path/what-are-sex-chromosome-aneuploidies-and-why-get-your-baby-screened-for-them/
but best to speak to your doctor to interpret the results. Hope all is ok

Your results basically stated that there are an abnormal amount of chromosomes (either more or less) than the typical 2 chromosomes (XX, XY). They aren’t sure if it was from baby (due to abnormalities with the sperm or egg) or you (you may have a genetic mutation to your chromosomes) so they want to do further testing. They can’t differentiate through the blood sample provided because your DNA and babies DNA are both mixed together in your blood. I pray you have a healthy pregnancy and delivery mama🤍
