I was breast feeding (pumping and bottle feeding) up until my baby was 3 months old. During this time, he’s had bad reflux, severe discomfort when feeding (arching of the back, hard tummy) he also has regular hiccups and always sounds congested after feeding. He was prescribed omeprazole and has been on that for 2 months and it did seem better, but he seems to be getting worse again. 2 weeks ago I stopped giving him breast milk and he’s now solely on formula. He has been refusing the bottle, screaming the place down, really runny poo’s (only 1-2 a day) or has been constipated and has been pooing literally pellets. Yesterday, I also found mucus in his stool.
I’ve been suspecting CMPA for a while but have been batted back as he hasn’t had a rash etc, but he doesn’t seem to be getting better and drinks half the milk he should be at his age.
Can anyone shed some light on how their baby presented? Dr has now prescribed Aptamil peptide 1 and haven’t started giving it to him yet and today he has taking all of his bottles fine?! Did some peoples babies have it worse some days than others? I feel like I’m going crazy!! Thanks in advance

Hey gal, my wee one has suspected cmpa, same as you severe reflux, on omeprazole. Initially labelled as failure to thrive due to dropping 2 centiles on breastmilk. We're on the aptamil pepti 1 syneo, been on it for 2 weeks and it seems to be helping! Just make sure you read the instructions because you it's a bit different to normal if it's the syneo one!

I found mucus and blood in my sons 2 days ago. Exact same symptoms as yours. Went gp who then said go a&e and they said potentially a stomach bug. Said to watch for another episode of bloody mucus then go down the cmpa route. I could have written this post myself, I even combi feed. Doesn't have a rash either .. refusing bottles. Honestly everything is the same to a T

Yesterday he started taking all his bottles fine too, even drained them.. I had to make more

Sounds like it to me! We had the same issues, then after a week of dairy/soy being removed she had no more issues
