Going home on a NG Tube, any advice?
Hello! My baby had a swallow study today and it was determined he needs to be exclusively tube fed. He is getting ready to be discharged and I’m scared. We haven’t had much of any training at all. We were told a company would come out and train us. We’ll also have to successfully place the tube ourselves too before getting discharged.
Did you have to keep the every three hour schedule? Idk how I’ll live getting up every three hours. My husband will be working while I’m on maternity leave. I’ll just nap when he’s home I’m thinking.
Is it difficult to be out of the house and do feeds? Like what if I’m out shopping or outdoors?

It’s not as spooky as it seems. Get yourself a couple command hooks to hang the tubes on. Pack 2-3 extra supplies with you. Feeding in public you get used to, and it’s all okay. Placing the tube is the hardest part because they fight back. Just remain calm and keep going, if you stop and start it’s worse. My daughter had it for a month and a half after coming home
