i’m a little over 4 months pp with my second baby and have been exclusively pumping. i’m naturally an over supplier, when nothings wrong i pump maybe 4-5 times in a 24 hour period and make about 64+oz. however, i’ve gotten mastitis 3 times now and it feels like every other day i have clogged ducts or inflammation from the smallest thing. i don’t want to pump more often because that would increase my supply and make my over supply worse but if i pump any less then i get clogged ducts/mastitis .. i didn’t have these issues with my first baby and exclusively pumped for over a year.
i’m a veteran so my primary doctor is a VA doctor who has never treated a lactating woman before and has told me repeatedly he doesnt feel comfortable treating these issues because he doesn’t know much about them. my ob won’t see me after 12wks pp. then urgent care/the er says i need to follow up with my primary 😭 i stayed inpatient for mastitis turning septic and the general surgeon kept saying he would bring a lactation specialist in but never did..
please i just need advice on how to manage the clogged ducts. i take sunflower lecithin, clean my pump parts after *almost* every use, i know for a fact im using the right size flange, i dont sleep on my stomach or do anything that puts pressure on my breasts, i don’t even wear a bra anymore 😭 am i missing something ???
