Going out in the evenings

Hey, we’ve been invited to a bbq this weekend and I cannot figure out how we can go without it messing with my baby’s schedule!

His bedtime is between 7-8pm and the bbq starts at 5pm so if we went we could only go for a little bit.

Do we just accept we can’t do evening stuff until he’s older and not go? Do we just go for a little bit and leave at 7?

Anyone getting out in the evenings?!

My husband suggested we put him to bed there and then transport him home but I have no idea how we get him into the car etc. without waking him.

In my experience I’ve taken my 5 month old everywhere no matter the time and let him sleep there before transporting him home. I believe it helps them to be adaptable with their sleep, meaning they can sleep anywhere even in louder environments or transporting. I’ve been doing it since he was born and I can see he’s really good with his bedtime sleep :) sometimes I go out in the evenings, not very often, and he’s now able to sleep and stay asleep even when being transferred. This is all just my opinion and experience of course. You do what you feel best for your bubba you’re doing amazing :)

We were in Ireland visiting family. And was there past his 8pm bedtime. He’s 4 months old. We put him to sleep in his pram and moved him when we got home. He’s fine with it. We just do whatever we want whilst he’s this little. They’re more adaptable than you think. Noise and light don’t bother him at all x

I wanna know what you end up doing because I have the exact same situation in 2 weeks for my FIL (who baby is named after) 70th birthday

I know this feels tough to deviate outside of their routine - when we’ve had something similar where we went to a 60th party - we’ve just accepted the routines going out of the window for that evening. We’ve taken the carrier and pram, so she can fall asleep if she needs to and tried to just do our best and she fell sleep on me while we were there. She fell sleep in the car on the way home also, we got her ready for bed when we got in, fed and put her down and it was all fine. X

Just go and let the routine go for the night 😊 take your pram, a snooze shade and a rockit if you have one, and encourage him to sleep in there. He will either sleep for the whole time you're there after bedtime, or he will just treat it as an extra nap. This is the time when its easier to go out in evenings, make the most of it before it gets more tricky x
