I’m currently 36+4 and during my scan I was told my baby is in a transverse lie (sideways) and I am at a risk of a cord prolapse. This means I’m getting admitted at 37 weeks and I’ll be there until I give birth at 39 weeks (C-section due to fibroid and the baby’s position). I’m honestly dreading staying in the hospital for 2 whole weeks 😭 I don’t know what to do to keep myself busy.
Has anyone ever gone through something like this? Any advice? Is it possible to get a single room for myself or does the NHS only provide shared wards for situations like this.

I'm so sorry you're going for this and hope it all goes smoothly! I didn't have the same situation but my last pregnancy, I was induced and it took ages so I was in the hospital for a week total. I was also dreading it (even when I thought it'd just be a couple of days). It really wasn't that bad in the end! The food was nice lol, I brought a lot of comforts from home (dressing gown, pillow, slippers etc), I had my laptop, Kindle, and earphones for entertainment, my husband visited every day for most of the day (we had no children yet at that time). The worst part for me was showering/using the bathroom cus I'm a bit funny about public bathrooms. But otherwise it wasn't too bad! Minus the pain lmao.
I guess I'm saying just bring as much as you can to feel at home there, and go in with a positive mindset. It'll fly by. Think of it as a break away lol

Sorry and I was on a shared ward the whole time before and after birth. The dividing curtains certainly make you feel like it's your own little room. You get used to other people's noises, and most people are respectful

Are you being admitted solely for baby’s positioning or is it because of other reasons to do with you/ your pregnancy that you are at risk of a cord prolapse? Could it be that although an inpatient you are allowed to leave freely such as go for lunch and coffee etc ?
