Don't come for me. This is no hate.
I just can't understand how anyone is ok with just anyone putting their baby down to sleep. It's such an intimate moment and a baby has to really feel safe and secure to fall asleep. Which is why most babies prefer contact naps and fall asleep on mum super quick vs anyone else.
So my question is those putting your child in daycare. How did you get over this? Sure you can visit the daycare and it seems like the people are nice but you don't know which educator will be working that day or everytime they hire a new person 🤔 so basically a stranger is putting your baby to sleep? Am I the only one who thinks this is WILD???

How old is your baby, out of interest?

It's not that intimate to me. I don't think it takes much to make a baby feel safe or secure. Especially not for a tired baby.
Also they become familiar with whoever is caring for them. They'll know no one is you, but they'll still develop relationships with other caregivers
I also breastfed for 3 years and did every nap or bedtime unless I physically wasn't there, so I knew no one putting my baby to sleep would be the same

My son puts himself to sleep at nursery 😆 he walks over the mat and lies on the pillow and sleeps for 1-2 hours. At home, I lie with him and cuddle/sing until he falls asleep. He's 21 months. They learn to fall asleep differently with different people.

My son has had the same key worker from the start and she’s like a second mum to him, she adores him and he adores her. At home he requires lots of support to sleep, from day one at nursery with her she’s patted his bum and he’s dropped right off.

Aside from as teeny newborns it’s never been an intimate moment. Both my kids would fall asleep in minutes, regardless of who put them down. My babies could sleep anywhere. Both kids have a key person who does naptime, they’ve both slept amazing at daycare with no fuss so they obviously feel safe and cared for or they wouldn’t.

Nursery workers are baby whisperers. They can put any baby or toddler to sleep.
When you tour a daycare centre, to see if it's the right fit, always ask how they put the babies to sleep. I've only toured ONE centre who said they want sleep trained babies. All the others (at least seven) said they rock the babies to sleep if needed.
And by chance we did end up having to use the centre that said they prefer sleep trained babies and they did in fact lovingly pat the kids to sleep (I watched).
