How do I introduce a cat and a kitten? Please help

I have a 5 year old cat and she is territorial. Yesterday we brought home a kitten and she’s tiny (6 week old runt and mom died a couple days ago). I’m scared she’s going to hurt her so how do I introduce? We tried yesterday from afar but when she realized there was another cat she freaked out and bit my husband from how scared she was. This is my second cat so I’m not sure what to do since it’s only been my 5 year old cat this whole time. (To note: she was around my MIL’s cats for a month but she would go looking for them to terrorize them cause they were older and declawed)

I just put them together and let them sort out the hieracy between them - I was there at all times supervising it. This was the advice from my vet and it all worked out fine. There was a bit of hissing and growling but nothing extreme

Put the kitten upstairs in their own room for a few days and regularly go in and cuddle them/scent yourself and then go see your other cat who's kept downstairs.

After a few days, allow the older car upstairs so they can meet under the door and then slowly crack the door during meeting a little at a time until they tolerate each other 😅

You'll be able to tell by big cats reaction if they like them or not, e.g playing under the door.

We are 4 years later from introducing a small kitten to our first 2 cats and they all get on lovely now!
