Pumping

Baby is 1 month old I am EBF but have wanted to pump to allow my husband to help with feeds. Baby feeds around every hour - hour and a half from start of feed so I’ve not been able to pump as much as I’d like.

When I do pump, I’ve not been getting much, between 5-10ml from both breasts combined. I’ve tried to not create an over supply so don’t pump more than once or twice a day, and because of the cluster feeding, it can be days between pumps.

I’ve tried after the 6am feed and I’ve tried an hour after a feed during the day if baby has been sleeping for longer than an hour.

I’ve been using manual pump. Have people found electric pumps to be better even if you haven’t been getting much?

A BF team person did say she thought the flange was a little too big but I’m already on the smallest size. Will need to get flange inserts. Has anyone used the inserts and found they help?

It’s so disheartening when ive been sitting there pumping and I’ve only got 30ml at a max in the bottle and that doesn’t satisfy him so I have to put him on the boob anyway.

I would definitely recommend an electric pump. I am also using one so that it frees me up abit. I'm not getting masses but am getting between 70-90ml every pump (I spend about 30 mins per pumping session).
