Jaundice

Hey 👋🏻 anyone’s baba suffering from prolonged jaundice?
We’ve been seen at hospital a couple weeks ago and he had bloods taken which was horrible to watch 😩 but then they rang and said levels were fine and under the threshold to need any treatment so just to keep an eye out for white poos or dark wee and not feeding properly etc.
They didn’t really say how long his colour would last but he’s still quite jaundice now at 6 weeks. I’m EBF so I know it takes a little longer to flush out but just wondering if anyone is going through the same?

Thanksss

We are the same! EBF and same test and results at 6 weeks. We are 8 weeks and seeing slight improvement but definitely still jaundiced! at his 8 week jabs today the dr said not to worry xx

Yes, my LO was in/out of hospital as he would rebound quite dramatically. He lost 13% body weight going from 6lbs 6, to 5lbs 13 (roughly). And ended up in hospital on light therapy 3 times before they got the NCOT at home team involved. It was a hard 3-4 weeks. And I lost track of how many heel pricks he had. But he's 7MO now and thriving!
Always use natural light to assess colour. We just couldn't tell at home due to being first time parents, warm lighting at home and he was a November baby. So very dull lighting in general. We also left hospital 1st time round with no latch established and were cup feeding on recommendation of the feeding team. This was because I wanted to BF, but baby was too tired to latch. We implemented a bottle on day 5 as he was knocking the cups of milk. It was same day he ended up going in as he went down hill. Very nearly needed a blood transfusion due to his levels. But I refused to let them take him away from me. Luckily he responds well to the light therapy so he didn't need one
