I’m just curious how other moms are affording daycare (if your kids go) bc the daycares near me are double my rent payment

where i live it is highly subsidized by the govt, there’s vouchers and programs you can apply to based on your income, and you can file the expense in your taxes and get some of the money back

Other than the obvious of not trusting daycares, the cost was the reason it made more sense for our family for me to be home and not working. We tried daycare for like two months I think I was pocketing maybe $300 after paying for daycare and that paid for gas and some groceries but just wasn’t enough for it to be worth not caring for or seeing my own child. It’s ridiculous how the US does little to nothing to accommodate children and families.

I use an in home, so its significantly cheaper than most centers

I live in England, kids over 9 months old get 30 "free" hours of childcare a week during school term time. The nursery my daughter goes to allows you to stretch it over the entire year so it works out at 22 hours funded a week. She goes 3 full and 1 half day a week and our bill is still £650 a month. That pays for the additional hours and ancillaries, so food/nappies/activities etc.
I work full time and split the cost with my husband. If we didnt have the childcare funding we simply just would not be having any kids.

I work 2 jobs and husband is a SAHD

It's subsidized here. The preschool we'll be sending ours to in September is $346/month, and without the government subsidy it would be more like $1400.

husband will be getting an advanced degree when LO is in her second year. daycare will probably cost about £22k that year because it makes us ineligible for funding, even though as far as im concerned, a world renowned degree in a high need field with lectures from 9-6 is working full time. UK gov disagrees so we are saving every single penny we have to cover the cost of that year and the baby isn't even born yet.

Honestly idk. We always thought we couldn’t but my fiancee budgeted it out and it works. We both work full time .

My older kids stay home w me bc I work from home full time, and my toddler goes to an in home daycare. It’s $200 a week. My husband has a good paying job and mows yards on the side.
