Bottle Feeding at 5 weeks

My baby is 5 weeks old and is on 5oz every 4 hours which works out to 5 feeds a day so 25oz a day. What’s everyone’s 5 week old on or been on? Am I feeding her too much?

Having a child but not learning about child development, behaviours and actions?

I think it’s very common for parents to research and learn about baby development but we seem to think once they can talk then we’re done and they should know better.

Doctors receptionist and a small rant

Has anyone else’s GP surgery started asking if this is an “urgent medical request”?
For reference I’ve got a young toddler with green gunky eyes she’s had for over a week I’ve done my best to keep away from the doctors and treated with breastmilk and cooled boiled water and I’ve taken her to the pharmacy to see if they could treat it. But they said because of her age she was too young to be using anything over the counter. Plus she’s woken up rubbing her ears and are full of wax so is suspect an ear infection ontop of things. So basically it’s time to get her checked by a Gp.

I said all of the above and the lady on reception still asked if I felt she was needing to be seen my a doctor and I said well yeah I guess so hence why I’m calling 🤷🏼‍♀️😐

Honestly genuine question, why do they make you feel like you’ve either got to be having a heart attack to warrant an appointment? I do feel for them as I’m sure they get so many time wasters and I know appointment are few and far between but truly i just don’t feel like it warrants being made to feel like your asking for the world when you call with a genuine medical issue.

I’m really struggling with this attitude you are met with. I’m self employed pay my taxes and if I spoke to any of my customers in that fashion I would t have a business. So why do they get away with it?

Sorry rant over

Rubbing eyes keeping self awake and holding hands down gently

Hello,
My little girl is 6 months old. Her sleep has always been mostly ok. I feed her to sleep, hold her for 20 minutes and then transfer her to her next to me. I keep my hand on her chest for a minute and take it away slowly.
Since the weather has been warmer she has struggled with sleep. I do my same routine but as soon as I put her down, she’s awake and begins furiously rubbing her eyes and gets sad. Last night I took her downstairs and lay next to her next to me, and held her hands down gently, she slept if I kept them there. Which is fine in the short term, but not a great long term solution. Has anybody else had this? She’s rolling when playing on the floor, do you think it’s time to move to the cot where she could get herself to sleep on her front?

Breastfeeding

Any tips on how to stop my milk?
I'm 8 days PP, started off breastfeeding but baby wasn't putting on weight and we've decided to just go to formula instead.
One of my breasts isn't getting engored or leaking anymore however the other is hard, red, leaking constantly and is sore.

I spoke to a midwife who suggested to completely leave it alone, no expressing or feeding and to wear a tight bra. I'm reading conflicting things online, any advice please?

10 month health visitor review

Anyone else feel deflated after their 10 month review? I came out my appointment sobbing, they make you feel like you’re a terrible mum.
My little boy is measuring overweight for his age he is a big boy I knew that was going to be mentioned, however she then proceeds to tell me to water his formula down so he doesn’t like it so we can cut down how much he is having 😳 he does have meals and snacks throughout the day but loves his milk! Also he wasn’t babbling as much in the appointment and she mentioned he has a speech and language delay and could be autistic 🙄 by the end of the appointment she retracted what she said as he started shouting “dadadada”. She also told me to take his dummy away from him at night time as this will be affect his speech but this is the only time he has it and he doesn’t speak when he’s asleep 🙄😂 how can they “know” all this at 10.5 months old. All babies develop in their own time. I’m now worried. Has anyone else had a similar experience? ☹️

Fully formula fed babies - how often are they waking at night?

My girl is 6 weeks and last two nights she’s woken at 4am and then 6.30am after last feed at 10.30pm and I’m hoping it continues. Just wondered if that’s ok, my little boy woke at 2 & 5 for what felt like forever for a feed.
