Getting a picc line 😭

Has anyone gotten a picc line or NG tube? I currently haven’t held down solids since Saturday and today will be my second ER visit this week, dr said if I can’t keep food down I’ll be admitted for TPN and we can discuss NG tube after picc line for zofran and fluids are placed if needed.

This is my second HG pregnancy and last time… fuck I thought that was bad but it’s NOTHING compared to this😭

My son turns 2 next week and his dad (my fiancĆ©) works like 60hrs a week so it’s really just me (very rare 2-3x a month we get help from family for less than 5 hours 😭), idk I’m just looking for some advice from any mamas that have gone thru this🄲

I just got my PICC out after 6 months of having it so any and all questions, am happy to answer them!!!

I think the quick review of my experience would be: insertion is not bad, it’s the same process as an epidural if you’ve had one (numbing shot -> cath insertion). The most uncomfy part of it is that it gets itchy but an ice pack will make the itching stop. It’s 100000% more effective at delivering meds than oral & saved my LIFE with HG being able to use my zofran pump & get fluids at home continuously. Biggest complaint is that it’s ANNOYING — putting on a shirt, showering, it’s all a slight hassle and gets old but is definitely worth it! Feels a loooot scarier than it is!

They also had me on the same plan of TPN if PICC zofran and fluids didn’t work enough but I didn’t end up needing it, fingers crossed you end up with the same!! šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ¤žšŸ¼
