Gaining weight

I just wanted to ask something that's been on my mind lately because I'm wondering if anyone else is feeling the same.

Has anyone started feeling a bit insecure about the weight they've gained or how their body has changed during pregnancy? Until recently I honestly wasn't thinking about it and was just happy that everything was going well.

But over the last few weeks I've had a few comments from women who had babies years ago saying that I've "put on a lot of weight", and it's really got into my head. I'm currently 25 weeks and I've gained around **13 lbs (about 6 kg)**, and now I keep questioning whether that's too much.

How do you deal with comments like this? Has anyone else found themselves suddenly feeling self-conscious after other people's opinions?

That's not too much weight at all, its very normal and expected! How rude of them to say that. You could just say something along the lines of 'My midwife/doctor are happy with my weight'

That really doesn't sound a lot. I gained more! But here is the other thing I can't tell how much of that weight is baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, water retention and "reserves". I'll worry about my weight after postpartum. Not great you had that comment, hopefully those ladies will think again next time in a situation like that.

I've put on 6-8kg and im almost 26 weeks and midwife is happy. If anything i had a waitress somewhere we went for food a couple weeks ago say my bump looked small for how far along I was and that got in my head but had to remind myself that everyone carries different and every pregancy and baby is different. I think your midwife would say if you weren't gaining enough or were gaining too much too quickly.

Gosh last time I weighed myself around 3/4 weeks ago I’d gained 21lbs at least. Am pregnant with twins though. 13lbs isn’t even a stone, but if you were v petite before I can understand it may feel more.

I put on 30kg with first baby. I'm only 5'3. Everybody is different, I had a huge bump and my baby was 8lbs 7oz when born. Lost about 50% if that within the first 2 months and the rest is just going to have to be consistent exercise and hard work to get the rest of the weight off.

For women who say you've put on a lot of weight. Just ask them when they are going to start working out to get rid of their baby weight and watch them flip. Not worth being around people like that 😁

Enjoy it. Your body is doing an incredible thing, try to roll with it (pun not intended 😂) your body will tell you what it needs. Some of us small folk carry more fat during pregnancy to support with feeding once baby arrives, others don't. It's such an individual experience. Your hormones and the way you function will be very different to someone else. I have a huge number of stretch marks, some women don't. I don't have any pelvic floor issues, others do. Be proud that your body has got you this far xxx
