First Halloween Birthday Pressure

My son is having his first birthday (on Halloween) and yes I know HE won’t remember, but I will and I’ll have lots of pictures!

I feel like I’m torn on how to decorate. I like the spooky one vibe, but he also is obsessed with the Bluey tv show song. No one was behind my costume party idea, which I’m bummed about. But a cartoon theme seems boring when his birthday is one of the best days ever, so it has me feeling a lot of self pressure.

The other hard part is, we live states away from everyone in both our families and they say they want to come, but I’m not sure if they will. We pretty much only know coworkers and my husband’s classmates since we moved last year for his schooling.

My baby’s birthday is on Halloween too! Growing up it’s never been a real thing to do things on Halloween but now I’m so excited to plan a party and have everyone come dressed up and actually get real engagement on it since Halloween is literally the day you’re mean to dress up! It’s going to be very hungry caterpillar themed. I like to also think in the future when he knows Halloween is coming we get double the celebration from us treating him special on his day and then going out at night to trick or treat :)

I’d like to think that whatever theme you choose it should be a reflection of the interests your baby has at the moment, when everyone looks back to reminisce you’ll have the essence and memory of who he was and what he’s become then and I think it’ll be really sweet if what he likes still remains and he knows that his mom really did know him :)

This is a beautiful way to look at it! This takes a LOT of pressure off me. I’m also super excited to take him trick or treating! Thank you 💕
