Got my glucose test next week after my 26 week appointment today where I stated I am extremely thirsty. This is the only warning sign I can think as to why they would test for GD. I’m currently consultant led for previous pregnancies small size so now thought of GD seems contradictory!
Any advice on test, or comments on why they are testing for it?

It can be random or if a family member has it. My mum is diabetic so I had it with my first and got my next one next week.

Ive just had my 2nd one this morning 26 weeks also. I was told would need a 3rd one too. There's loads of reasons why they can test, I originally thought mine was for my bmi but when I asked today they said its because of my PCOS. If you give them a call they can tell you why they're testing for.
Only advice I can give on test is eat a good carby meal the night before and plenty fluids as you have to fast from the night before from fluids/food/vapes if you do and medication. And only allowed to sip water. - also take a book as your stuck for 2 hours during the test

There are lots of reasons to be recommended a GTT and many women don't have any symptoms at all, so it's always worth being tested.
Large babies are commonly linked to GD if they're receiving excess glucose for extended periods but if levels are controlled there is no reason for them to be large. And sometimes its just genetics that you'll have a small baby, or a different risk like high BP/pre-e, so size isn't necessarily related xx
