I’m a first time mummy trying to combi feed. My initial plan was to formula feed but due to baby girl latching straight away when I came out of theatre I have decided to do both. Please can anyone give any advice they have about combi feeding? I am using hipp formula and this is rarely being given if I’m honest as I’m trying to express milk in between to use for bottles. I’m just finding night times very tiring breastfeeding so any help would be very much appreciated. Thankyou in advance!

So attempting to express as much as able so I can have at least 3-5oz of milk that can be used in the night. Topping up with formula when needed.
Have been told by other mums that trying to get yourself into a regular pumping schedule will help and mean you have more milk but it’s okay to top up with formula when needed.
Also if they are having less than 500ml of formula they needed to be on vitamin D drops as they won’t get enough from just the breast milk.
My partner has been doing the 4:30am feed and 7am feed so I can sleep or pump if not able to sleep. With either breast milk or formula or both if he is super hungry.

Im combi feeding due to a tounge tie and latching issues. I find that overnight i exclusively pump and if thats not enough for him top up with formula because if I tried to BF overnight id never get any sleep.
The advice ive been given about pumping is to pump every 3 hours or so but try not to be obsessive about it. So I pump after he feeds from the boob in the daytime, or on the opposite side if I can while he eats. The overnight I pump when he wakes for food to feed him throughout the night.
Im 16 days up and can only currently get between 1-2.5oz when I pump
Whatever you do, just know you're doing great! X

I do both express and formula, I pump in the morning while shes having formula from dad and give her the expressed milk in the afternoon, I then do an evening pump which I give to her for one of the night feeds. She has formula throughout the day giving her the vitamin D which is needed. I also mix my breastmilk with formula, especially if I've only pumped a small amount of breastmilk that time.
