Men calling women evil

OK, so analyze this Bible verse. Proverbs 18:22 says, ‘He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.’

Yet today it’s becoming common to hear wives spoken of as though they are evil or the source of all a man’s problems.

Isaiah 5:20 warns, ‘Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.’

It’s worth reminding men not to call a wife evil when God calls her a good thing and a blessing.”

Greetings and good evening. 👋🏾. Based on my understanding of scripture, men can be evil and women can be evil. Not every wife is a good wife and visa versa. Yes, finding a wife and help mate is a good thing and a blessing from God. But humans are humans and do evil things.

If a man says a wife is evil, it’s worth getting his context. It can’t be that we just say, a man can’t call out a wife as evil at all bc of Proverbs 18. I personally wouldn’t say to a man, you can’t say that. I would want to hear his perspective and reasons or examples or evidence of evil done. Just like I’d want to be heard. I think that’s fair.

I do think it’s interesting though that Solomon had many wives from different nations and he worshipped other gods because of them which was evil in Gods sight , and died out of the will of God. He had the knowledge but didn’t apply it, though he was wise/ the wisest.

I agree that context matters. Of course a wife can sin or behave wickedly. Women are not exempt from sin any more than men are.
But that is not really what I was addressing. I am referring to men, many of whom are not even married, who speak about wives and Christian women as though women themselves are the problem or marriage is a burden.
Ultimately, God is the judge of what is good and evil. Even when someone gives context, their perspective still has to be measured against Scripture.
Proverbs 18:22 says, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.”
That does not mean every wife is righteous or never sins. It means Scripture presents a wife as a good thing and a blessing from God.
There is a difference between saying a woman did something evil and creating a mindset that portrays wives as evil or as the source of men’s problems.
We should call evil evil, but we should also be careful not to call evil what God has called good.

I see your points. I agree, marriage and finding a wife , pair bonding, as presented in scripture is a good thing. Men who are marriage minded are pushing against it and say they are having a hard time finding a good wife. Unfortunately, things have been and are continuing to change because hearts are growing cold and hardened like the scripture says would happen. I think men’s complaint , as my husband explains it , is due to feminism even Christian feminists. Many women don’t choose to be wives and/or leave for various reasons. Some even have unrealistic list of what they want in a husband so they hold out. I believe in marriage and my heart wishes men that want a wife , wouldn’t give up on it but I think perhaps it calls for women and men to come to Christ truly, be renewed, practice humility, and forgiveness. Unfortunately Because of what’s happening with hard hearts, marriage minded men are retreating and worldly men are saying no way hose. There’s fear there. On both sides.
