Hi, has anyone else noticed they’re losing a lot more hair than normal? Started around two months ago, seeing clumps of hair on my brush and in the shower (not broken ends, entire strands with follicles). My ponytail feels half the size. I’ve spoken to my midwives and consultant who helpfully advised me “I haven’t really heard of that before”. We conceived via IVF, but recent blood tests show no deficiencies, I’ve been taking vitamins throughout, everything else going well 🤞
Planning to speak to GP and see if any other tests can be done for iron/thyroid levels. Curious if anyone had something similar? Thanks x

I’d defo see a doctor, you usually don’t shed hair during pregnancy then loose it in mass pp x

Hey! So I've been told (by mum & MIL) that hair usually grows really well and is nice and shiny during pregnancy because of all the prenatal vitamins. They said it only starts to fall a few months postpartum when we usually stop the prenatals.
Except, mine wasn't like that. I've had hair fall from about weeks 10-20 (26 now and doing a bit better) so I looked it up. Everything Google AI said matched what my mums had been saying except a line right at the end: "do you have an overactive or underactive thyroid"? And I do, I'm on medication for my hypothyroidism.
Another fact I can volunteer is that my mum has been on medication for hypothyroidism as well for a few years now, and she used to have the best head of hair ever but it all started to fall after her diagnosis.
So I would really get your thyroid levels checked as they're quite essential for baby to grow well as well.
I've heard about iron affecting hair and hair fall so that's a good shout as well.
I hope you get your answers! X
