Weaning anxiety 6 months

Hi, I’m a first time mum and my girl is 6 months now, I’ve been trying her on purées shop brought and homemade, anything I make at home she really gags on to the point she will then refuse it, I’m absolutely terrified of blw no matter how much research I do.. any advice? 🥰

Would highly recommend a book called “how to wean your baby” by Charlotte Stirling-Reed. It has great information but not overwhelming! Currently using it with my little one and I love it. Good luck mama 🫶🏼

I have a choking phobia even outside of weaning so I totally relate to this!

My advice would be don’t push yourself out of your comfort zone and take it at a pace you’re comfortable with. I personally did purées for the first 2 months and then started introducing really soft food

My HV said that by 9 months they need to be chewing their food to develop their jaw muscles

Maybe do a first aid course as well if you haven’t already? It covers weaning and what is normal gagging (which is actually a really good sign) xx

So you don't have to start because she's 6 months you can wait a couple of weeks and try again. Has she lost her tongue thrust reflex fully? If she hasn't that might be what's making it difficult for her
