We are planning to go across country via plane to visit family for Christmas. Of course, that means handling a baby in an airport and on a plane. I have heard it said that there is no such thing as screen time while traveling and to pack 2 snacks per hour while in the plane. We are not a big screen time family for any alternatives would be great. Also, what snacks would you recommend to help with popping ears?
What do yall recommend for traveling with a baby? What should we do or bring? He will be almost 18 months by then. It will be a 5 hour direct flight.

We do milk/water for the ears or just give her snacks
For snacks I like puffs, tractor wheels, pouches, peanut and jelly sandwich, cheese sticks,
For toys I like stickers, Easter eggs with surprises inside, mini magnatiles
The hardest is sleep and for that… we do screen time till she gets really drowsy and drifts off.
You will be totally fine! You will love getting to visit family. It’s a tough age but it’s not impossible.
The airport should be pretty straightforward just bring a copy of the birth certificate in case they ask.
I always bring my stroller to gate check because if the flight gets delayed we do a stroller nap or just walk around the airport for entertainment. I’ve brought a mini sound machine for that reason too but it’s not crucial.
