Home birth and cats?
Hi! I'm planning a home birth as a first time mom, and I'm curious to know if anyone else has experienced giving birth at home and how your cats responded to it? Did you have to keep them in a separate room or did they do fine? I have two and they are really connected to me, my boy cat especially so since I've been pregnant and my girl cat has been keeping her distance but still wants attention, and they each have different approaches to strangers in the house. Our girl cat doesn't mind new people and often comes up to sniff at them, say hi, receive a few pets, and hang out in the room before going on her way to do her own thing. Our boy cat hides immediately when strangers arrive. They aren't aggressive at all and are very well behaved. So I guess my worry is, how well will they respond to me being in labor? Any experiences or stories or tips are much appreciated! Thank you ❤️

I was unable to do a homebirth due to some health concerns with baby during both of my pregnancy’s however I stayed home almost the entire labor both times. My dogs were not fans. They’re both incredibly protective and it genuinely scared them. Not sure if a cat would be similar. I did have a doula come meet us at our home however my dogs had seen her at a few home visits before.
