My son 2 1/2 has had a persistent dry cough for over two weeks. It’s much worse at night which I know is normal but it’s completely affecting his sleep. We’ve tried steam showers, humidifier in his room, over-the-counter cough medicine and even albuterol treatment and nothing seems to help with the nighttime. Does anyone have any other remedies to try to help alleviate the cough and get him to sleep better? (Yes I have reached out to the pediatrician. He says it’s normal for it to be worse at night and that the cough should get better.)

Honestly, the thing that has worked really well for us with our 3 kiddos is keeping them warm, putting baby Vicks on the chest and on the feet with some socks on. Poor kiddo :( we’ve been there many times!

If it’s a dry cough try getting some cocoa butter (I use this one https://go.shopmy.us/p-80267042) and grate a bit (like a teaspoon amount) in warm milk or formula, it melts very quickly and coats the throat and alleviates the dry cough pretty easily. It’s our family tradition to give cocoa butter in warm milk and it worked well over multiple generations 🧡
