I'm literally going crazy with trying to get my 5 month old to go to sleep. He crys and whinges all day long because he is so tierd. I feel like I've tried everything. White noise, rocking, shhing, putting a item of clothing next to him, leaving him in the cot to settle himself when drowsy. I've even put him in the bed with me and held him for hours and hours but he sleeps for minutes then I need to resettle him. I'm in tears most nights as I'm so tierd and mentally drained. I'm losing my mind over it. At 3 months I actually called my health visitor because he was sleeping 12 hours solid so I was worried about him not getting a fed. Now I'd give anything for an hours sleep. Please help

Firstly - thinking of you because the sleep deprivation is HARD. My 6 month old recently went through a similar thing and he’s always been a really good sleeper. I have just found that the last week when I’m taking him out all the time (seeing friends, going for walks, to play cafes, anywhere to keep him stimulated and not spend too much money!!) Then spending an hour with him before bed playing and singing then reading and a bottle before bed he is sleeping better through the day and at night. He still wakes up once or twice but much better than it was. I don’t know what your situation is or if this will help but it’s helped us. Hope you get some sleep soon xx

Going through a similar thing after having a perfect sleeper, just started changing the length of time I keep him awake from 1.5hrs to 2-2.5hrs and he seems happier this week. Have to change room/ activity every 30 minutes because of the whinging which i think is boredom rather than the tiredness which is what I thought it was before

I feel that because he won't nap in the day unless he is lay on me or my partner that come bedtime he's absolutely done in. He's always napped on us but as he's got bigger I think he struggles to get comfortable, particularly on me. So if we do get him to nap its 20 -30 mins at most x
