Cheating

I’m from Vancouver, Canada. I met my boyfriend in December 2024, and at first we had a beautiful relationship. He told me that he had broken up with his ex four months earlier, which I thought was completely normal.

Things became strange when his ex started following me on Instagram. He immediately told me that she was crazy, and I believed him.

A little while later, in February, I received a message from a fake account. The woman told me that my boyfriend was the father of her daughter. I couldn’t believe it because he was my boyfriend, and according to him, she was the “crazy” one.

Eventually, I found out that he really was the father. When I discovered the truth in March, he denied it and even denied that the little girl was his daughter. At the same time, I found out that I was pregnant with his baby too.

It was horrible. My pregnancy was extremely difficult emotionally. Thank God, my daughter was born healthy, and now she is a beautiful eight-month-old baby girl.

The problem is that he betrayed me even during my pregnancy. I’m not talking about sleeping with someone else, but he was going to escort groups with his friends, and that deeply hurt me and broke my trust.

His ex continued to bother me and cause problems. She even decided not to put his last name on her baby’s birth certificate, but she still continues to harass me.

Despite everything that has happened, we actually have a good relationship now. He comes to visit us every day, and we get along well. I still love him, and a part of me really wants to get back together with him and have a family with him.

But something inside me doesn’t allow me to simply move on and forget everything he did to me. I try to forgive him, but I still think about everything that happened, especially the lies, the betrayal, and how alone I felt during my pregnancy.

Right now, I live alone with my daughter. He says that I should forgive him, but deep down, I feel like he doesn’t really want to live with me or build a life together with me. That hurts so much because I want him, but at the same time, I don’t know if I can trust him again.

I feel so hurt, lonely, and emotionally exhausted that sometimes I feel like I’m losing my mind. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know whether I should try to rebuild our relationship and forgive him, or accept that too much damage has already been done and move on with my daughter.

The hardest part is that I still love him, and I wish things could go back to the way they were before all of this happened. And yes his Ex is super crazy.

I’m so sorry you had to go through this. You were disrespected massively. On top of that, it seems like he was gaslighting you by trying to convince you other women are the problem and they’re ‘crazy’.
I would encourage you to focus on yourself and your daughter. Set high standards and expectations for her. Let her know this is not the way to be treated by men - she may not understand it now, but she will come to understand it when she’s older.
It is entirely up to you what you decide. It is your life at the end of the day and you know what’s best for yourself x
