Yes if you are married you can file separately. On the tax forms for the work more money gets taken out per paycheck the less peoples you claim. So if you have single and no dependents on the form more money will be taken out.

Usually it is more tax advantaged to file together. You can use the tax software to try both married filing separately and joint to see which one’s better or if you go to a tax person they can also check which way is better.

We file as married. We usually get more money back. Idk about being much gets taken out. But I’d file together. For us it’s better over all then separately. So like someone else said I’d look at it and see which one. Idk if it’s even allowed to file as single when you aren’t.
