Do you buy the right size or size up on baby clothes?

My favorite onesies I would buy in two sizes! The proper one & one or two sizes up

Once my son started wearing shirts instead of one piece items he preferred wearing bigger shirts than his actual size range

My babies were petite, so at 6 months I would have bought 6-9 month clothes, and they probably would have worn them to nearly 12 months old. It also depends on whether it's seasonal (buy shorts that fit now... shorts that are too big will just fall down and they'll finally fit in winter) or special occasion outfits. For general year-round clothing, I'd size up a bit so they can wear them longer.

i have a chonker who wears 3-6 at 2 mos with 6-9 trousers, so depends on the item of clothing! depends on the shop too! some of them run big or small.

Babies grow so fast before 1 year I would always make sure that there’s some space for them to grow into it/not too close fitting or I’d have to buy another outfit the next month or 2. If there’s some space it might last 3 maybe even 4 months. Some clothing types can be worn quite a while because the design is not close fitted and doesn’t have footies attached, so those you might get 4-6 months out of them.

For sizing labels that also depends on where your baby falls on growth percentiles. Mine was 95% in height and weight so that meant if the range was 4-6 months, he could only fit into them until just turned 5 months old max, so we always had to buy the next size up minimum, sometimes 2 sizes up. Other people have tiny babies where they actually fit into 4-6 months size at 6 months, so they might have some room to grow still with that size range even at 4 months.

My son was in 12-18 month clothes by 6/7 months, so there was never any point in me looking at sizing labels

Both of my kids have been consistently a size or two above their actual size so I always buy bigger

Depends on the child my oldest grows so fast my 2nd is a short skinny thing.

I don’t buy clothes that are bigger unless they are a bargain and I have space to save them.

All my babies are little so i don't tend to size up. At 6 months they are generally still in 3-6 month clothes but depending on the brand and the fit I'll buy something that says 6 months or 6-9 months. My daughter is 5 months old and I've already bought some 6-9 months stuff for fall-winter because it was cheap and if you don't buy winter gear right away you're screwed when you need it.

Mine was starting to wear 12M clothes at 6M and now at 1 year has started to wear 2T but can still fit in 18M & 24M

Size 3-6 when 6 months old maybe even 7/8 months xx

My kiddo is quite small. She's 12 months old and still in 6-9m clothing. She'll be moving up to 9-12 month pretty soon but definitely not just yet

Both my boys were above the 98th percentile in length, weight, and head circumference, so we size up!
