I have a 4-month-old, and she just developed a little cough and stuffy nose. It’s very mild right now, but I have a trip to Florida on Monday. I’m going to be staying with family, so I’m not really going to be out doing a bunch of things with her.
I’m feeling like maybe I shouldn’t go if she’s sick because I’m worried she could get worse, but some of my family members are telling me to still go and that it’s not a big deal. I just feel a little guilty taking her if she’s sick, especially since she’s so young. I’m also worried that while we’re there, she could catch something else.
I don’t know if I’m overthinking it, but the mom in me is telling me to be cautious. What would you do?

How are you traveling? If you’re flying it’s a big no for me. If you’re driving it would depend on how long you’ll be in the car.
In general I don’t see anything wrong with taking her with a light cold. Babies get sick. But I wouldn’t want to expose other people to whatever caused her to be sick (like on an airplane) and the pressure changes while flying would also cause unnecessary pain.
But if it was a few hour drive and family still wanted me to come then I would go. Take a humidifier if you can or ask family to have one for baby when you get there. Also, steaming up the shower and sitting in the steam did wonders when my little one was sick.
