So my toddler started to throw up on Thursday night. Took him to the hospital they gave him a nausea pill and he ended having a throat infection. He’s 3 and goes to a child care center so I believe he caught something there. They gave him antibiotics but kept throwing it up every time I gave it to him. On Saturday I made him an appointment with a pediatrician, turned out they gave him a super high dose of antibiotics which got super upset but luckily he’s okay. They gave me a smaller dose and this time kept it down but around 1pm today he ended throwing up again twice. I do have a follow up appointment tomorrow but he’s eating very little but throws it up. He only drinks pediasure and I’ve been giving smaller amounts but he still throws up. Don’t know what to do, please lmk what would you do.

Nurse here. Did the pediatrician give him the exact same antibiotic as the hospital? He might have an allergy or sensitivity to that particular antibiotic or class of antibiotics. Try to keep as much fluid in him as possible while you wait to see your pediatrician again. Popsicles, jello, and broth all count so if he is struggling with one, try another. Popsicles also might be soothing on his throat.

Hey so im not a huge fan of antibiotics, so when my 3 year old gets sick I usually stick with the B.R.A.T. diet and small amounts of pedialyte alternated with water. Not sure if this will help but it usually helps my son and helps him keep something down. Usually hes still throwing up at first but he starts to keep his food down and feel better later in the day or the next day
