I’ve done this for a dog and 2 birds. My little understands generally that death means that living thing is not here anymore, but with stuff like FaceTime, he doesn’t understand that we can’t just call and see them whenever we want. Someone else taught my son that the dog was “in the sky” and he responded well to it. He waves at the clouds and says hi when we go outside. When the birds passed, it was then pretty easy to just say “the bird went to the sky to live with the dog”. So sorry for your loss… this sucks

Thank you so much. We did it in a very similar way. Today is the very first day without our doggy.
