Looking for a bit of advice from fellow mums and pet owners 🐾🤍
We’re getting 4 cats, and once they’ve had plenty of time to settle in, we’re also hoping to get a puppy. I’m not pregnant yet, but we’re thinking about starting to try for another baby before Christmas, so I’m trying to think ahead and make sure we’re doing things in the best order.
Has anyone had a similar situation with multiple pets, a puppy and a toddler/baby? 🥹 How did you manage it all? Would you recommend waiting until the cats are fully settled before bringing a puppy into the mix, especially if we might be trying for another baby soon?
I’d love to hear your honest experiences and advice 🐱🐶🍼✨

We have 2 cats and had these before baby was born and rescued a 6 month old puppy after baby was born. We’ve had no issues and made sure to introduce every pet to each other and the baby in the most appropriate way. Trust your gut and go with what you feel is the best option! Everyone’s lives are different and although having the puppy once my boy was 3-4 months was easier for us, it might not be the case for everyone! 🫶🏻

I have 6 children between 3-15yrs. A 2yr old presa Canario, 2yr old cat (got them a month apart) along with 3 other cats, another dog, rabbit, guineapigs, rats, birds.. 😂 aaaaand im getting another kitten in 8 weeks. I’m animals and baby mad though, and work with animals, so it’s completely normal for me, if you haven’t had that many animals before though I’d let your cats settle first x

We got our cats, then our kid and then our dog. Wouldn’t recommend the dog after kid bit again if I had to. And yes the cats need time to settle but it would be beneficial also to have them used to each other before a baby comes

I would say wait until after the baby to get the puppy. That way you can see if you're able to cope with all of it and a puppy rather then get the puppy before and then after baby you're feeling too overwhelmed x

Puppies are worse than babies. But i suppose it depends on the breed and their temperament. Tbh any breed, be prepared for minimum 3 years of pure stress😬 i would never add a newborn baby into that mix. Especially if it’s your first experience owning a dog in general, i really wouldn’t recommend starting with a puppy. Two kittens are more manageable than one single puppy🥲 just my personal experience!

I have 4 cats, 2 we got in 2020 and the other 2 we got in October 2022. We then got a puppy in January 2023 and I found out I was pregnant two months later. They all settled very well together and we even moved house the month before my son was born and they all coped well with being in a new environment. My dog was fully trained by the time my son came. I’m not sure I would have been able to cope if I was trying to train the dog along side looking after a newborn but my dog turned 1 a couple of weeks before I had my son and he had definitely chilled out so much by then

Youre insane, in the nicest way possible
