Is everyone offered the GBS test?

Is this a routine thing past 36w? I haven’t been offered one, I’ll soon be induced, wondering if the results should be back before that?
What are cons of not having it done? Ty!

I’m 38 weeks and never even heard of this, just had to search what it is😅if you’ve got a mw appointment soon maybe ask more about it and if they think you’ll need one doing. defo not routinely offered tho x

No there is no universal screening for GBS in the UK. They only swab certain groups

About 20-40% of people will have GBS in their body or on their skin at any point anyway, it doesn't cause any harm to you. If you have GBS, the chance of your baby getting a GBS infection are 1 in 1750, so it's a very very low risk.

I only got offered because I tested positive in my previous pregnancy. They only tested last time because I went in for spotting and they tested thrush and GBS. I had both.
They tested on me a month ago and I had nothing.
I had a rapid delivery first baby so could not even get the antibiotics they give you for baby when they arrive. I had to stay in to monitor her. But she is a fine happy 3 year old.

It’s not offered to everybody, you could show positive for it one day and not the next. Also you could show positive and then not necessarily have it when you give birth which is why they don’t test for it usually.

I have tested positive this pregnancy but it was picked up by chance as I had swabs done to check for an infection a couple of months ago when I was having stomach pains x

I was positive with my daughter after a swab for suspected pre-term labour. I’ve had a swab again this time to check if still positive, but otherwise they don’t routinely offer them where I am

So helpful, thanks all!

Failed 2 hour test - doctor has said nothing

I definitely failed my 2 hour glucose test on Tuesday this week, with numbers out of range on both my fasting and 1 hour blood draw. I may be rushing my doctor, but I messaged and called because I am going overseas in less than a week and need to know if I need to, say pick up supplies or be medicated. Is it normal for no one to reach out after a failed glucose test, or respond at all?

Witching Hours - There Is Hope!!

Just a positive post to say that there is light at the end of the tunnel for those of you with babies going through the witching hours! My baby boy is now almost 8 weeks old, from around 3 weeks he was inconsolable for a couple of hours anywhere between 5pm and 9pm, but the past three nights has been so much better!

It is a haaaaarrrrdddd phase though! If you are going through it, what helped me was holding him securely while bouncing on my birthing ball and singing slowed down versions of my fave pop songs (twinkle twinkle got old v fast!) and then tapping in and out with my husband when it got too much.

Hoping I've not jinxed it with this post 😅
