Hi mamas,
I have a really bad cold and headache, but leaving for a holiday tomorrow morning. I took some time off work to get some rest and try to avoid medications, but still not feeling much better.
My midwife said I can take paracetamol if necessary, but I am a bit scared of using it too often, as NHS guidelines say to try to avoid it if possible and always take the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time. I am 18 weeks pregnant with my first baby. What are your thoughts and experiences with flu and medications on your second trimester?

I took paracetamol in all 4 of my pregnancy nothing bad happened

Honey lemon and hot water worked wonders for me! You need to continuously take it throughout the day for a few days. Make sure you have a cup before you go to bed as it will make you 'sweat it out" and get rid of the cold/flu.
Hope you get well soon xx

FYI u are not even suppose to have strepsils as they can slow your bubs heart. If u want losengers lockets are OK.

I was offered a flu jab from the hospital and had it around 12 weeks would highly recommend - until then rest up and one paracetamol really want cause harm defo take the smallest amount possible and try one for now it really will help with getting rid of the headache if it’s bothering you xx

I personally would avoid to take paracetamol, I had a really bad cold couple of weeks ago, I’m 14 weeks now ... I dealt with it with natural remedies.
Boiling water with some vicks, put a towel on top of your head and breath it in. That will be help to clear up the cold very quickly. Do it for few minutes until you can breath properly.
Also your gp can prescribe a nasal spray called “ Avamys” it does help. Good luck xx
