How long from seeing the baby drop and head engage until labor began for real for second time moms?
My baby’s head has been in a favorable position for labor for a couple weeks, and this morning he has visibly dropped and now he’s so low it’s painful to walk lol I’m still only 33 weeks but been having painful contractions and my cervix is very soft for a little while now. Any second time moms on here got any advice for me? Is labor approaching?

First time moms would know too. But yes possibly I went into labor around 34 weeks and my water didnt break until I was 9 cm

My advice would be to contact your provider to try and keep baby in until 39 weeks for the baby to finish developing on the inside rather than the outside.

I had my second son at 33.5 weeks, my water never broke at home just having intense contractions. The hospital broke it for me and from the time they broke my water to me delivering him it was 48 minutes. It would be worth going and getting checked out 🙂

My second baby was engaged for about 3 to 4 weeks before she arrived... She was 5 days early. The labour was much much quicker than my first but like with every pregnancy, its different each time!
I really hope your baby arrives safely and quickly for you and you're not too uncomfortable until the big day. Good luck x

My second baby dropped at 34 weeks, I stayed dilated at 2 cm and 70% effaced for 5 more weeks before I was induced as it got painful at the end she was sitting on a nerve and couldn’t lift my leg anymore.

I’m still waiting she dropped ages ago about 33 weeks lol

I went into preterm labor at 26 weeks with my youngest. From the time of preterm labor until I had her she had dropped and positioned for birth as I almost had her at 26 weeks. With strict bed rest I went until 38 weeks when my water broke at home. The pressure and all was so uncomfortable, but I was so happy to keep her in as long as possible. I would definitely get checked out. With my youngest I just had consistent contractions (not painful) and I was progressing. I also went into preterm labor with ruptured membranes with my first born and I was to the point I could not stand up straight it was so painful, I progressed to 3cm before they began to stop labor. That was at 31 weeks.

My baby dropped at 36 weeks and I went into labor about 12 hours afterwards- it was my first pregnancy. Just keep alert and call your provider if you need to! Good luck!
