Hi all! I’m having my first egg retrieval at the end of this week. I was just wondering if anyone could give advice. Did you take off from work? If so, how many days? Any suggestions for before or after? Trying to prepare myself 😬

I took off 2 days as i was sore and super bloated

Hi! I am also a teacher so I know exactly how you feel! I had my egg retrieval on a Sunday and luckily we had the Monday off because of a holiday!! But I was fine and ready to go back to work on Tuesday. It was definitely nice in my opinion to at least have the day of off. Like if your egg retrieval in the morning I wouldn’t go into work that day. Just go home after and relax, because you will be tired. I was bloated for a few days. Let me know if you have any other questions 😊 and good luck, you got this!! 💕

I'm due mine in a week or so and I was advised to take a week off!
To be honest from what I've heard it's less about how you feel and more about what your body needs...having said that I know not all headteachers are as understanding as mine so you might be in more of a rush to get back to work but I'd always say this is way more important than a job. Good luck xx

I had mine at the end of last year. It was on a Monday... I’m a teacher and the day after was a teacher work day so I didn’t have to do too much. I was fine the first two days but by Wednesday I thought I was dying because I was bleeding and hurting. My principal found me a sub and sent me home. I slept and rested the whole day and night and I felt better. I’m sure everyone is different but if you could take one extra day off to rest it may be beneficial. I thought I was better off than I was and I think I did too much the next day which sparked the pain and bleeding. Sending prayers and baby dust!!!!

I had mine Thursday morning and I was fine by Thursday night and back to work fri morning... no pain or anything. Your just v sleepy that day.. I had a nap and felt a million dollars Haha but everyone is different. I'm a nurse so was back to a busy ward for 13 hours the next day and was fine x

I am a teacher also and I think a day should be good get in ur liquid such as coconut water and water and praying u don’t get OHSS u should be good u will feel sore too take some meds for pain and rest I have a IVF group u have visit that group I will post stuff about IVF my transfer is in March

I had mine last year. My experience was pretty rough and I was not setup properly by my nurse staff. I had ALOT of follicles and was close to being overstimulated. Therefore my healing was harder. It took me a week to fully recover and another week for the bloating to go down. If you have normal level of follicles this might not be the case for you and you would recover under more normal circumstances.
