Our culture had a similar belief about buying things before the baby arrives. I researched for a long time and made final decisions weeks before the babies arrival, the absolute necessaries, like the bassinet and car seat and some clothing/diapers, then continued few more of the orders shortly after the babies arrival. Do what feels right for you.
As soon as you like. I'm always so excited, I put the bassinet up at a few months .
When they are atleast 1? It's recommended to share a room until then to prevent SIDS
I was brought up feeling the same, so I had everything I wanted saved on wish lists n watched for when deliveries would be if I ordered them. I had a baby shower so many items were gifted to me n saved at my relatives until after the baby arrived. We didn’t really need much set up or purchased before the baby arrived because he stayed in our room until he was a few mths old. Hubby was happy to have extra time after to decorate the baby room.
Set up at 32 weeks and the cleaned all the clothes and sheets at 34 weeks. I spent most of week 32 in the hospital for pre term labor. Christmas weekend we washed everything. And made the bed and put a sheet on the bassinet just in case the baby came early
We did the majority of ours after the 12 weeks mark, painted all the walls and ceiling and had carpets cleaned, all the things you don't want to be doing while heavily pregnant but stiffly to find time and energy to do in the first few months of having a baby. I'm 33 weeks and everything is ready, baby will be in the basket in my room to start anyway but I don't want to be trying to do it when it's here x
I didn't set up a nursery till bub started sleeping in his own cot. When he was 5 months old he used to sleep in my room in the bassinette.
I began setting up last weekend at 25weeks, the plan is to do bits slowly and to have somewhere to store things. I know people get superstitious but then you’ll want to take it easy towards the end so maybe you could start soon x
Anyone got ideas on where to get bedding sets from. I seem to remember the days you could walk in a shop and see a set up of matching bedding curtains the whole sherbang. I can’t seem to find anything like this online
I didn't have my daughters room fully finished til she was 5 months old. I was so sick during my pregnancy that I wasn't up for anything plus working 6 days a week. I was exhausted. Don't stress to much about getting it all done. X
I got all the big ticket items/ furniture before 25 weeks. Had my baby shower early at 30 weeks so I now have everything set up and ready at 32 weeks. Now just relaxing and waiting for baby! I like getting things done early.
We are getting many things second hand so we’re starting to purchase now. The world has plenty of stuff and there is no need to buy everything new. Sure amazon in convent but all the stuff in the world we will ever need has already been made. Not all items but as many as possible
Not until my daughter needed it at 6 months old. She slept in a cot in my room until then x
My baby is 7 months old and we still don't have a nursery

We got our both of nurseries ready when I was in my second trimester because I had the most energy then. 3rd trimester is tiring and then when the baby comes you’re exhausted.

I'm only 12 weeks but pregnant with twins. I know it's early but I'm already exhausted, and if I don't get things ordered now it probably won't be done by the time babies get here 🤦

We started early too, to spread the cost! Do what's right for you 😊xx
Amazon has a lot of things and they still do prime it’s just like an extra day or two
My mom said the same. We set up the crib 1 month away from my due date, I started buying clothes and pampers 2 weeks before I was due.
I need that rug... where can I find it ?
So, I’m Russian and that one superstition really stuck with me. I waited until 36 weeks when my daughter was technically full term.
I’ve had mine done since about 18 weeks 🤦🏼♀️ I’m 33 weeks now x
I'm 37 weeks and due to lockdown have had the nursery set up and ready to go since April! I've had everything ready since I turned 35 weeks so that I can relax now xx
I’m 17 weeks and the only reason we’ve even painted is because there’s nothing to do, I’ve been looking at things on the fb marketplace and comparing things, I’ve got a vision of what we want but it’ll just be at a leisurely pace just so we know we’ve at least painted 😂 x
Consignment shops!!!!
If you feel ready to start putting it together now I’d say go for it! I would advise against putting together flat pack furniture a couple of days before your due date like I did! 🙈 it’s hard to put together with a bump in the way! Plus you don’t want to leave it to late so you can relax ready for the big day! X
We are 36 weeks now and finished ours last weekend. Wanted to have somewhere to organise clothes, sheets, books etc. Was nice doing it after baby shower as you can go through all your new stuff and see what else you still need with plenty of time to get/order it. No guarantees and not sure if they’re open at the moment but the recycling centre near Watford has a second hand furniture section (called Waterdale ReUse Centre). Best of luck 😊
Uhg I’m almost 37 weeks and the nursery isn’t complete but we do have everything ordered and we have the main stuff like the bassinet, changing table, dresser, glider, baby monitor, crib, stroller, car seat, and book shelf all set up. Just minor decorating to do to make the nursery look put together, like curtain rods and curtains, a little side table to put all my nursing gear next to the glider. The most time consuming thing and something I’m glad I started a bit early was honestly washing all the new and hand me down clothes, sheets, burping cloths, blankets, etc with the new baby detergent.
It all depends if you have a vision.. if you’re not sure what you want it to look like.. if you have a vision I’d try to get it done but if you’re not sure I’d just get the basics set and finish the rest as it comes to you. We finished with the basics around 34 weeks. When the baby is born you need so little compared to as they get older so we held off on any long term aesthetic decisions until she was a bit older and we could set up based on her personality, likes and dislikes.
I’m officially done at 24 weeks with baby 2 I waited until 30 weeks with my first and went into early labor at 32 weeks and then was in bedrest until I delievered at 37 weeks I didn’t want that to happen again
We had our baby shower at 30 weeks and I started getting everything together right after that. I’m glad I didn’t wait any longer because I was already so big and exhausted lol. I’d say I got about 90% of it done, and then finished that last touches after the baby was here. Plus since he’s our first, there were more things we picked up and I moved some things around after he arrived because it made more sense to relocate/reorganize certain items. He’s been in our room with us, so we only just started using the nursery regularly for tummy-time, playing, etc.
I would start doing things little by little. This is my second so I know I’m gunna have to buy more stuff this time and don’t want to spend so much at the end. Would rather space it out little by little. Plus it’s super fun to set up the nursery. I’m 23 weeks and just bought the first stuff for my Lo. Had hubby put up a curtain rod in the room this past weekend just because we had the time. Will probably get furniture next month and set it up leisurely.

We got the nursery set up slowly as we went on.
I would start around 3 months, and take it slow and steady until you are done.
We started putting up the crib around 34 weeks lol. Slowly by slowly daddy got all his stuff up for him. When he came home daddy put him in his swing
Most say the last month to nest but that last month all you want to do is rest so I would say start at 30-34 weeks
And I still don’t have wall decor lol
I would Start now. I waited thinking it was bad luck and went into labor at 36 weeks and had nothing set up! Luckily my parents and sister set it up while I was in the hospital
My baby is 8 weeks. A nursery is still not done. We have a next to the bed cot and a changing mat.
I put everything together and hung up and set up early- 5 months and I’m glad I did bc my girls were born at 27 weeks and were in hospital for 3 months b4 they came home and the whole time they were in nicu I did nothing but go and be with them come home to sleep and same thing next day. Congrats on ur little
Completely personal preference! I started literally from 8 weeks pregnant as was so excited to get started but you really don’t need to at all - just bare in mind deliveries taking longer atm (especially Ikea) - ebay is great though we got our snuz pod for £50 with everything & just bought a new mattress xx
I got it ready gradually so I felt more at ease bit by bit I got most of my stuff of Facebook buy swap and sell great stuff off there hope it helps
I literally didn’t set up the crib until the night before I was supposed to be induced. Her dad put it together and my brother and sister moved it to the bedroom. I already had everything bought but just not organized until that night. This time around, the crib is in place. I’m 31 weeks and I have mostly everything in place except I haven’t been able to find nb diapers in town so I ordered them today online. I’ve been wanting everything in place but decided to wait til I was further along to really get everything where I want it.
Around 35 weeks
I had the urge to "nest" and get everything ready at 6 months preggo
I probably didn’t start setting mine up until around 30 weeks. We didn’t even have a crib in there until she was 4 months. (We had a bassinet in our room) Honestly, I don’t think it’s necessary to have it set up before the baby comes, its just more convenient for some. 🙂 Good luck for whenever you choose to set up your nursery!
We started buying stuff early but didn’t get everything put together and hung up and with clothes and stuff until around 33/34 weeks. But we also were stuck in isolation. So I needed something to do! But I would have started it earlier, because the last three weeks of my pregnancy I could barely stay on my feet for more than a half hour at a time.

Well I’m nearly 15 weeks and done nothing my friend is a few weeks ahead and done so much 😂 I felt like I was slacking
I am currently 35 weeks, we have everything we need for the nursery but it’s not set up as my husband is currently using it as an office
I feel like you should start. It’s better to have it all done early. Once their here it’ll be harder to set up. I’m going to use some regular items and dress them up to be for a nursery.
You can usually find some really good things on Gumtree...
Whenever you have the energy really
I started buying things like clothes and the crib really early. Like 5 months in but had everything delivered at 37 weeks when I started mat leave. The baby will be in your room for the first 6 months so you only really need a crib and somewhere to store clothes to begin with!
