So I'm 41 weeks today!! Had a sweep done by the midwife, who said I'm 2cm dilated and stretching to 3cm. I bled afterwards but she said it was to be expected. Its stopped now.
Question is - how long after your sweep did u start labour??
Thanks ladies 🥰🥰

With my first child, 2 sweeps didn't work. With my second child I had a 'really good' sweep and labour started maybe 2-3 hours afterwards.

I never did. I had to be induced. I was 41 weeks 3 days when I delivered

I went into labor two days after my sweep. Goodluck!

30 hours almost exactly

The night I had the sweep! I was also 2cm & completely thinned out 😊 I was 40+3 and baby was born 2 days later x

3 weeks....

Sweep did not work for me

2 hours after I had a sweep I went into labour. I did go for a really long dog walk tho x

Had it Wednesday evening, had my son Thursday mornings 💙

I had it done on a Wednesday evening and went into labor at midnight the next day (7 hours later). My daughter was born in the morning.

My sweep didn’t start my labor. My midwife decided to do a balloon and that’s what started my labor.

I had 3 sweeps, after 10 days overdue and 2 days in labour i still never dilated over 2cm i ended up having a cesarean 🙄 they dont often work if your body is just not ready

Had a sweep at 41week appointment and went into labour 3 days later

I never did. I was also 2 cm

It took me two sweeps for anything to start and it was a few days after my last sweep that the contractions started

I had 3 sweeps, the last one was on the Tuesday and went into labour midnight on the Wednesday night.

Had one at 38 weeks, another at 39 weeks, early labour started at 39+5, had another stretch at 39+6, had baby at 40+2 😂
Good luck!!

I got swept at 39wks and 40wks then got swept again before getting a Foley bulb and being induced a couple days later. I bled after every sweeping. Good luck girl!

Had mine done on the Monday and started in labour Weds morning xx

I have had 3 now and they haven’t helped any, so I’m actually being induced Wednesday

My 1st two pregnancies were natural/spontaneous deliveries.
Towards the end of my last pregnancy it was offered at 2 different appointments, due to high bp which was fine during the whole pregnancy. However, I felt a bit sprung as that's not what I went in for nor was expecting to be offered so I scaredly refused. Induction was on the cards by this time anyway, and already pencilled in the diary.
Went in for a check up at 39 +1 due to reduced movements and it was offered yet again so I thought I'd have it.
Didn't work and even though I didn't want it to, I was kinda mad it hadn't - all that discomfort and pain for nothing. Ended up having my induction 2 days later which was hell on earth x

My sweep didn't work 🤷🏼♀️

I love that artist! They had a little girl and their work is so cute 😍 Sorry this had nothing to do with your post. I just had to make a comment about their work.

I had a sweep at 38 weeks, gave birth about 30hrs later :)

Had mine on a Friday afternoon and labor started 2am Saturday. But I also walked 30 blocks home after the fact and came home to do endless squats (I was so over it!) Hope you’re in labor as I type this!

I had a sweep at 9am, then noticed contractions at like 3pm haha. Baby was born the next morning. 🙂

Had a sweep waters broke active an pushing was only 14 minutes

I had 3 sweeps, was 3cm dilated for almost 3 weeks 😭 I wish they hadn't told me tbh because it got my hopes up that baby was coming 😂..
I tried EVERYTHING to bring labour on, if one more person told me to get shagging or go for a walk I felt like chewing their throats out in that last week 😂

I’m due a sweep tomorrow I hope to god it works because I am over this pregnancy😫!!xx

Glad to have come across this thread. I’m curious and kinda considering to do this and/or get induced. But how does a sweep feel like exactly??! Painful? Tolerable?

Hoping this works for you. I had two sweeps and three rounds of induction to try and get my little one to come. I was almost 42 weeks before he came

Good question. I believe I was in labour a few days after my initial sweep. I was 2 cm dialated. Few days later my water broke I went to the hospital and was 3 cm dialated. They asked me to stay in the hospital and walk around as I was in labour started having contractions. After my 1 hour walk around the hospital I dialated fast to 6 cm and that's when I received my epidural. Also I didn't find my sweep painful at all. Maybe uncomfortable but I wouldn't say painful

I had a sweep at 38 weeks and again at 39 weeks and my baby was born on my due date. I don't think the sweep helped move things along fo me at all even though I bled a bit each time.

I had three sweeps and still had to be induced. 😔 Crossing my fingers for you!

everyone is different my first one took me one sweep then after 1h I was in labour ... then my second one took me 2 sweep but after the second one again after 1h then I was in active labour

Had a sweep on the Wednesday baby came on Saturday morning

Took me about 24 hours to go into labor, but I was told it doesn't work for everyone.

I’ve read that a sweep is only successful if your on the way to being in labour anyway.

The sweep worked for my on my 2nd baby, but I had to do some things to help it get going more, but I was a 2cm I got stretched to 3cm an with in 7 hours later my contractions got so bad they didn't keep me at first but then I got sent home then they finally kept me the 2nd time I went back in. 4 hours later the baby was born.

Went into labour 30 minutes after the 3rd sweep xx

Started having contractions about 15 hours after the sweep 🥰

I had a sweep on a Tuesday that caused cramping but didn’t lead to labor and then a second sweep on that Friday morning, went into labor after dinner on Friday night!

I had sweep on Friday and I don't think it worked at all for me. Going back on Friday for 2nd and hoping to be booked for induction on Saturday so fingers crossed x

Induced at 37 weeks and in labor for 32 hours

I had cramping and bleeding a few hours later, which continued into the next day and turned in prodromal labor the day after that for several hours (though I'd had that on and off for a week), then that stopped and by the next day, nothing was going on. But then the following day, real labor started in the wee hours of the morning. So sweep Wednesday afternoon at 41 weeks, real labor early Sunday morning.

I’m having my sweep tomorrow! Feeling nervous but I want to meet my baby now lol

Had my sweep on Friday at 5pm, it’s now Monday 11:23 am and no sign of baby. I lost mucus plug on the Saturday after the sweep though so I’m still hopeful x
As for the sweep, just grit your teeth and bare it out, it’s not comfortable, it’s not nice, you’ve just got to get through it. Use it as an opportunity to practice your breathing ready for contractions.

With my first it took 24 hours. With my second I had to get two sweeps done. The first sweep was unsuccessful. Then I was five days past due and they wanted to induce me so I asked for a second sweep. I started feeling contractions within an hour and baby was born 6 hours later.

I just had my first baby a month ago and I had my sweep at 40+4. My contractions started the next morning and I went into active labour in the early hours of 40+6, which I was in labour for 2hrs ☺️

I had mine done at 9:45am on a Wednesday and started labor at 12am at night till I delivered on Thursday at 8:36pm.
