Retroflexed/ tilted uterus

Hi there! FTM, 10 weeks along with a question. Anyone here have either what they call a “retroflexed” or “tilted” uterus? Had to go to the ER this past Friday for discomfort and spotting to find out after an ultrasound that I was diagnosed with that. Not really sure what to make of it now considering I didn’t get much of an explanation and never spoke to a doctor at the ER. Just a PA and a nurse. If anyone could reach out to me for some guidance, advice or knowledge it would be so much appreciated. Thank you in advance. 💕

When I went for an early scan at 7 weeks, the lady said I had a retroverted uterus. All she said about it was that it was tilting away from the abdominal probe 🤷🏼‍♀️ but she did say it might not always be like that and next time I have a scan it could be different haha nothing to worry about tho she was happy with everything she saw! I was diagnosed with a tilted uterus too, and my doctor said it can usually only be an issue during 9-13 weeks because of how it leans on your bladder, but after week 13 it should fix itself because hopefully our uteruses keeping growing! I was freaked out too, and I know it’s scary to hear, but I’m sure you’re going to be just fine 💜

Yep, just means your uterus tilts toward your spine instead of toward your belly. A normal anatomical variation. I have it and it has never caused me any problems. The only issue is that if I’ve had to have ultrasounds for cysts etc in the past they have had to use the transvaginal probe because my anatomy is deeper and they can’t see it as well from the trans abdominal view. You are normal, don’t worry. Btw I am now 23 weeks pregnant and no issues due to it. My mum and sister also have this variation

I have a tilted uterus as well. It’s actually really common but most women who have it are not aware of it. It doesn’t affect pregnancy at all or your chances of conceiving.

It can cause you to start showing a bit later than other women but that wasn’t a problem for me as I started showing around 16 weeks. As your pregnancy progresses your uterus should pop forward on its own.

I’ve heard of it causing back pain but I don’t think it’s the cause of your spotting.

I had tilted uterus, had spotting, gave birth in February, no issues because of it just back pain during pregnancy. Shouldn’t affect the pregnancy.
