Favorite toy organizers/ideas

My daughter has a lot of toys. We are living in a small apartment, so all her toys are in the living room. We're moving to a bigger one in August, but I need some tips on organization. The picture is what it's organized like now, but it's very crammed. Ideas?

I don't really have any ideas what to do with the stuff, but putting more bright pictures on the white wall or turning the dark wall light either with paint or decor could make the space feel bigger. A non-patterned, light colored carpet (probablly gray or white) or a white throw on the couch might help make the space feel bigger too. I don't know if thats helpful, im better at thinking about asthetics than actual space.

Maybe you could put giant white posters behind the trucks and stuff that say "so-and-so's truck stop" or something like that or put a giant white calander back there.

My house is chaos as we’re moving at the mo but I plan on doing what my childminder does once we are settled. She has all the toys in a collection of stackable plastic boxes in a cupboard (in her porch) and she ‘rotates’ them ie she gets one box out to play for the week, then it gets packed away and a new box is brought out the following week. It limits the amount of stuff out and also keeps them interested as the toys keep their ‘new/novelty’ element.

Kalax unit from ikea. Amazing for storage. Highly recommend 👍🏻

Agree with toy rotation idea. 10 toys is plenty for all ages in my opinion. I rotate every 14 days or so. And if something isn’t getting played with anymore after 2 rotations and it’s gets donated. Also no new toys come into the house unless an equal amount of toys get donated, so before Christmas and Birthdays we do a clean out.

Thank you for your advice!! I love the idea of donating whatever isn't being played with after two rotations. I will definitely start implementing that!

Also can some of her toys be stored in her room? She doesn’t need all of her toys out at once. Likes others have said less is more when it comes to the amount of toys. When there’s too much out it becomes overwhelming for children and they go from one toy to the other. They will also just start dumping everything. By limiting the amount they will actively play with a toy and stay engaged with that activity longer.

Thank you for the advice!! Sophie won't have her own room until August. We are living in a one bedroom apartment right now. In August she'll have a play room and a bedroom to herself. Most of her toys are in "storage". We did a huge clean out before Christmas and the ones left are in the bins. All you see here is her Christmas presents 🥴 haven't had the time quite yet to go through them yet.

Soft toys and small toys i use over the door hanging storage, but behind the door. I also have Corner hanging nets for soft toys

I've not used the corner nets yet but my sister in law did and they were great.

We got a inexpensive ottoman off Amazon that has a lid you can remove and store things in, it's pretty big and holds a lot of toys and hides them if you're looking for a way to reduce clutter

I have these as well! Love them.

I got a fabric ottoman for all of my sons small toys... great to hide it all and can also be used as an extra seat in your lounge!

I have the little storage cubes too and storage things you can also use as footrest super cute and match with my couch

I’m ordering the billy shelving system from ikea

Can you get your daughter to recycle and give some of her toys away? Maybe use the big IKEA storage boxes for some bits?.

We use a cube unit for her smaller toys, we have a big 1m wide toy box in her room for her bigger toys like the happyland toys and anything bigger then that goes down the side of the sofa lol x

Toy shelf and tubs

This play room looks like a child’s heaven! Thanks for some great ideas.

Cube unit all the way!

Use wall space if possible. Try to get some under the bed storage for stuff that you don't want out, and you can hopefully put it under the couch. It seems like I'm always going through my kids toys and getting rid of stuff. Good luck, it's hard!

We got a 4 piece lion king set that has two storage boxes you can use as toy boxes, one toy box and a laundry hamper

Kallax with boxes and additional shelfs work for us :) and affordable.

We got a grey ottam to blend in with living room furniture, for storage and seating, our sofa also had storage in end and so does foot stool.

Just moved from Manhattan. When I was there had to get creative with organization and furniture want it all multifunctional.

Sorry for crooked photos I did the Montessori bin, put coloring books in magazine rack, the cork board holds artwork, net or pretty tulle for stuff animals, and the letter holder to keep paper clutter off my limited counter space.

A little basket for my husband stuff he drops all over the house, that rotator thing for commonly grabbed items

Messy house that can use organization but it helps.

Puzzle rack for puzzles that was a shoe self in my old closet new place used it to create quiet toy space in her room with books for low stimuli time now that she doesn’t nap anymore

The rotating shelf bookshelf I saw at PB teen for $600 I loved it so much found it for $300 at coaster furniture. Toy bin target, under tv sidebar was way fair, little table birthday gift for her and even my master bed has drawers for bed linen.

If you have storage available in the new place, I would advice to put away some toys and rotate them , bringing out every week a new one from the storage and replacing the old one , this way it keeps mess to the minimum and the kids are always excited to see the new toys to play with . Storage wise there are nice built cubes on Amazon that can be used with the sorted and signed storage bins or baskets

Old trick was getting gutter material for roofs. Apply it to walls for perfect book shelves, and all displayed for easy reach& read.

We personally love the cube organizers.

We like Ikea TROFAST. Lots of different hacks to fit all needs as well. Easy to keep clean.

I have a fisher price toy box with containers inside that divide her small toys. Her books on a small shelf 💜

the best you can do it rotate them, dont let her have them all all the time, example only let her have access to some of them inside of the fence you have ther the colorfull and try to practice the boundaries, and tell her and make it seem super fun that inside off there is the only play she has to play and with only the most important or. you chose the toys for her and put the others is bags in the closet until you think is time to change them again thats what i do, also if she is gonna haver her room. i would also make a suoper organiced toys station in thebedroom so she can go play there so stuff and in the balcony others. always inside of sometging like a organizer or in a shelved organizer my best idea. also for you so you dont have to clean abuch of crazy toys everytiume just some in each room and each bunch has a room where to go so if yopu are not in the mood to organixze them you can just trwo them inside or put them always in the same corner a dont know youll find the way

Where did you get that cute little pink couch??

Try a a tiered one where you can put the toys on shelves and that way they won’t take up so much space 💕

We have a big storage box under LOs bed, and toys which aren’t being played with go in there for a couple of weeks. That said I’m following this post because my living room is still a madness! 🙈

Toy bins are always good. Also, collapsible bins.

My suggestions would be: Toy Rotation! And cube shelving.

I have something similar to that panel play area. I have 2 backpacks attached to it (from the outside so baby doesn't get to them easily) I store the smaller toys in the backpacks so they're not tiny clutter everywhere. And clean up us easy

You could put the easle by the sofa and the pink organizer against the window, beside the easle to open up some space

Ikea cubes

I got an ottoman from amazon, its a faux leather route 66 one. Most of their toys go in it. The bigger toys all go in their room now.

Declutter baby doesn't need all that

@lauren🤍 where’d you get ur labeler from ?!

Claybear toy bags are the best!! Not too big but you can fit so much in them xx
