Preeclampsia

Went to the hospital last night for high blood pressure and found out I won’t be leaving until I give birth. I’m 31 weeks and will have to give birth at 34 weeks. I’m so sad, stressed, concerned, and nervous. Has anyone else dealt with this? Please let me know.

Hi Courtney! Hang in there Mama! I was diagnosed w/ pre-eclampsia & had high BP right from the beginning. Bed rest helped me get it under control so I could push to 37 weeks. You may have to much on your plate right now & your body is trying to tell you. Try to focus on yourself now- you & baby are priority now! Stay positive & just know there is nothing wrong with having baby early.

I was diagnosed with mild preeclampsia last night and will be induced next Tuesday @ 37 weeks. I’m also very nervous but We HAVE to remember that because our health is at risk, that puts babies health at risk as well. I made a post just like this and had some great encouraging responses. Wave back to me so I can tag you. Please try to stay as positive as possible 💜and don’t freak yourself out with Google

I was admitted at 36w4d with pre eclampsia. My BP was a slow increase until 35 weeks and I was given medication to try and bring it down, wasn’t helping so they admitted me to play with the dosage. Decided to induce me at 37 weeks.
BP, liver enzymes & protein in my urine continued for about 2 weeks post partum. I’m just over 3 weeks pp now and the levels are just starting to get back to normal.
You are in the best place so they can monitor you and the baby. Pre eclampsia is no joke.
Take care & good luck!

I was induced 5 weeks early because of preeclampsia my BP was so high I was on magnesium for seizures. It’s definitely terrifying but technology is great. I had steroid shots for baby’s lungs and he never needed NICU. Even if he did, medicine is so advanced that I’m sure he would have gotten the best care. Both my son and I are doing great now! Message me if you ever want to talk.

I’m sorry to hear this , is not easy but in 3 weeks you will meet the love of your life , and have the happiest moment that you never felt

I was admitted after my baby was born with preeclampsia as well. Baby was born 39 + 5d just 2 days before the due date. 24 hrs with magnesium was awful but thank God always because my baby was healthy

Had preeclampsia in my first pregnancy Everything will be fine, I opted to have a c section.

You have to stay in so they can monitor you and the baby, also they may give you steroids so baby can develop a bit more faster from what I remember I had the shots in my thighs.

You will be okay, just take it easy and relax. I had the twins at 34 weeks they was tiny, had to be in neo natal for a while but before I knew it they was strong enough to go home

Definitely not alone 🤗

I was diagnosed and admitted to hospital with severe preeclampsia at 30 weeks with my first child almost ten years ago! She was delivered via emergency c-section at 35+3. Like other's, I was given a steroid injection for baby's lungs to help her prepare for an early birth. I was prescribed labetalol to help lower my blood pressure during my admission, and before she was born I was given a magnesium sulphate infusion to assist in controlling seizure activity.

My daughter was born weighing a tiny 1.7kgs, but you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at her now! She is almost as tall as me!

As far as adverse effects go, the only negative we experienced was that she had to spend 14 days in NICU. After that, we were able to take her home with us and have never looked back.

Be strong mumma, you've got this. We're all here to support you and if you need to chat at any time please don't hesitate x

My mum had pre-eclampsia with me so I'm at risk of getting it myself. You're in the safest place xx

I had the same. My son was delivered by planned c section at 33wks. He had to stay in hospital for 3wks but only to increase his weight. He's now a healthy 4yr old. Reading everyone's stories brings it all back to me. It's a rollercoaster and not easy but take it one step at a time and you'll be fine. You got this. Msg me if you have any questions or just want to talk x

Try your best to Stay calm as stressing will only make it worse since preeclampsia is mainly caused by high blood pressure

I had severe pre-eclampsia, only found out as I went in for reduced movements. I didn’t have any symptoms except for swollen feet.
I had my baby at 35 weeks and he was absolutely fine, weighed 5lbs 11oz. We had to stay in hospital for a few days after having him but only because of my health. Baby had slight jaundice too but went quickly.
I was induced but was already 3cm, I started pushing 11 hours after being induced and only pushed for 30mins.

You’ll do amazing! Remember you’re a strong woman! Good luck mamma 🥰💖xx

I had it too! They said for my next pregnancy to take baby asprin. The guy is the one who gives preeclampsia by the way

Aww same happened to me with my first although I didn’t have high bp. My preclamp was caught by ultrasound. I was 32w. Got sent the hospital for monitoring and had emergency-c 2 days later. My boy is 20m and sooo active!
Easier said than done but don’t stress! You and babe will be fine and are about to be in an exclusive club lol. They will prob give you 2 steroid shots to help baby’s lungs and monitor. Good luck 😊❤️
Feel free to message me if you ever need a pal or support.

I have not dealt wirh this but am being monitored for risks because I was born at 29 weeks due to my mother's preeclampsia. I was in the hospital for many months in 1993 but I turned out perfect with no lasting effects. Technology and med care is so much better now. You and baby will be okay! Trust your doctors and he well. It is so scary but I am living proof that preemies are strong. Of course if I end up in the same situation I'll need a pep talk or three

I’ve just been diagnosed with mild preeclampsia, no high blood pressure but my blood tests, swollen feet and blurry vision show it’ll not be long before my blood pressure changes too.
I’m booked for a C-section at 40 weeks anyway so they are just bringing that forward... waiting for the date now 🤞🤞I’m 38+1 so hopefully not long

Hi Courtney, same here, first time mum of twins, for a while they have been monitoring me for signs of preeclampsia as my proteinuria was high and eventually last Friday they rushed me to observation at the hospital and 5 hours later and some high blood pressures I was admitted. I’m 33 weeks and was told I’m not going anywhere 🥺 have to stay in hospital be constantly monitored and given various blood thinners and blood pressure lowering tablets, until I deliver. With COVID 19 this means by myself with no visitors. I miss my husband and my dogs and just being home. Hospital ladies are all lovely and looking after me but it’s hard being here.Very scary and overwhelming. Consultants are trying everything to get me to 36 weeks, but it also depends on how my body and babies behave over next few weeks. It’s hard and stressful so I feel your pain. Have you given birth yet? I would be quite interested to know how long after giving birth at 34weeks did you both have to stay in hospital for.

Hi guys, I'm kinda late to this message board. But I'm 32 weeks and I'm hospital woth pre-eclampsia.
My question is how quickly did this reduce for everyone after birth. Did the high blood pressure and symptoms disappear right away ? Or were you co tjnuing meds afterwards?
