Name steal?
A few days ago I was on the phone with my dads wife, im pregnant so she asked about names I had in mind for my little one. I told her I didn’t have much, but a few I thought were cute. She commented on one name and said her friends kid had a similar name, but never heard it pronounced like this and said I shouldn’t give both my children the same initials and proceeding to tell me names she thought would be better. 3 days later, she gets a dog and names it that name. She sent a pic in a group text to my sister and I with the caption of the name, the Italian meaning of the name, and how to pronounce the name. Like bitch.. I know I came up with the name... anyway, it was just a name I liked it so I’m not too mad about it being used but I still feel pretty offended that she took it without saying anything & and then had the nerve the write it in a text like she came up with this super cute name and how to pronounce it!! I told my sister the story and we’re both really annoyed with her for acting this way, even though she’s always been an extremely snotty women who we’ve never liked. I didn’t say anything to her because it wasn’t worth a fight with my dad. Am I over reacting for being annoyed about this?

frankly i would be pissed. she had the audacity to tell you to name your child something else and then turns around and uses the name for a DOG! i would be fuming. if you like the name, use it anyways. fxck her 😒🤷🏽♀️
I let everyone know the sex of my baby, but I kept the name to myself until after I had my son then I announced it
I would respond in that text asking why she stole a name you picked out for your child after she said it was not a good name. Then tell her you don’t associate with thieves 🤦♀️ the nerve some people have

It is clear that she is mean and intentionally rude to you but the main thing for you is to be calm, relax with out any stress at this special moment becuase of your baby...there are plenty of time later on for you to give her a very strong response.

I have a similar story. Only difference is that it was my friend who asked what I would name my baby if it was a girl. I ended up having a boy. Later she got pregnant and had a girl and gave her the exact first name and only took the first letter off of the middle name. I was in disbelief because the name I'd chosen was after my child's great grandmother. Like really?! So weird to me. Yeah, you are definitely not overreacting.

I have a uncle and two cousins who have all the same initials. The only thing that went wrong with that when they were moving one of them decided to write their initials on the wall with a sharpie and to this day none of them (even the dad) has owned up to it.

I would of ran to her house and slapped her 🤷🏻♀️ thats why i dont tell anyone my kids name until their born. Nobody knows my daughters name either and its staying like that till shes born lol
I’m always super blunt and honest so I would’ve went off on her and told her she’s out of my life if this is her ongoing behavior to be that petty and snotty and has had many chances then I bring out the ol scissors and cut that shit out of my life family or not I am not putting up with continuous bullshit
This woman clearly wants to get a rose out of you do not give her the satisfaction do not let her steal your peace you got to know she is not a happy person don’t catch that shit for nothing! Leave her to it, there is no winning with people like that!
