Hi ladies my waters broke in the night but contractions have still not started? How long did it take for contractions for you all and did anyone have to be induced to start labour after waters broke. Thank you

Have you contacted the hospital? Waters breaking can be dangerous due to risk of infection

I’d contact your hospital, contractions starting can vary depending on the woman and pregnancy.
Though if you aren’t experiencing them within 12 hours after waters breaking then it’s likely you’ll need to be induced

As others have said: once your waters break, you need to go to the hospital. You’re now on a time clock to get the baby out. Doesn’t matter if you have contractions or not-you need to be delivered!

My waters broke on Wednesday morning at half 12 and I has to be induced Thursday morning at 3. Baby girl finally came Thursday evening at 8:30. She was delivered by forceps.

I had to be induced because my contractions didn’t ramp up on their own. They were 10 minutes apart and I couldn’t even feel them.

If your water breaks first and you’re not having contractions, you may have to be induced. That’s what happened to me. We waited over night and it still hadn’t started so we ended up having to give up the home water birth and go to the hospital. So glad to have amazing memories though. It went really great despite not being what we expected.

Jump on the breast pump to avoid the syntocin drip!

My waters broke and i went to the hospital about 12 hours later with little contractions - my contractions were in my back and alot harder to feel they were more frequent than I actually thought.
Once your waters break you are on the 48 hour clock to get the little one out.
Go to the hospital to keep on the safe side. :)

Once water breaks need to get to hospital. In Ireland they then test for b strep, and I came back positive so they needed to give me antibiotics and induce me.

Mine went at 11pm & i was booked in at 7am to check me over. I wasn't having contractions until on my way to the hospital so 8hrs after they broke. I was 4cm when i got there & was in labour another 25hrs after that & had a forcep delivery.

Yes if water breaks you need to go to the hospital because you can potentially get bacteria in there that can hurt the baby. So you will indeed need to get induced if you’re not contracting (eventually) but they do have to monitor the baby at this point.

Please go to the hospital 😩 this happened to me and I ended up staying in and being treated for sepsis after I delivered. Be safe 🤍

My water broke and almost 24hrs my contractions started, I did a lot of nipple stimulation with my breast pump, I had my membrane swept a couple of times and did enema which helped start them

Definitely go to hospital, but rest assured my friend's waters broke 5 days before she went to hospital (she didn't realise) and both mum and baby were absolutely fine. So don't panic!

My waters broke and after 3 days I still didn't go into labour, so I needed to be induced. Make sure you go in though and get checked out, especially since risk of infection is higher.

My water broke 3 days before I went into labor. I even had a Dr appointment the next day and he said everything felt fine. However when I went into labor the Dr said I had very little fluid left. They had to flush fluid into the uterus to help the baby.

I have been checked and sent home to see if labour starts but still no contractions. I am booked in for induction in the morning but really dont want to be induced

Mine broke at 5pm and contractions started about 4 hours later.
I contacted triage when they broke and was asked to go in so they could check and check on baby etc. My contractions started at the end of being monitored and I was sent home to continue labouring there. They provisionally booked an induction for 48 hours later just in case I hadn’t progressed naturally as there is a risk of infection once your waters go. Ended up back at the hospital a few hours later and was 8cms!

My contractions began within 2 hours for my 1st pregnancy and within 10 minutes when my water broke with my 2nd pregnancy. Go to the hospital, even if you aren't having contractions.

Thanks for all the advice

My water broke last week and they said they were gonna have to induce me because I didn't go into labor and they couldn't risk waiting but then I started having contractions and went into labor lol had my baby 5 weeks early so yea go to the ER please

Mine broke last Tuesday night and I called the advice nurse. She (and then my OB) told me to go to the hospital because I was only 33 weeks. They tried to stop potential labor, but contractions started 8 hours later and he was there within 2 hours.
Go to labor and delivery to get checked out. Water breaking can create a higher risk of infection to you and baby.

Had contractions early morning, waters broke 4:30 at home, had baby at 8:09am

Er asap for the safety of you and baby

If your waters broke you should be at the hospital by now. There is a risk of infection.

My waters started to dribble at about 6am active labour started around 3/4pm I went in to the hospital at 5:30 fully dialated and I had my daughter at 9:30 x

I think if you go to the hospital and get yourself and the baby monitored and everything is okay they can wait quite a few days before interventions.

My contractions started at 4am, my waters didn’t break until 6:30am, I didn’t get to 4cms dilated until around midnight, baby didn’t arrive until 3:52am the next morning.. almost 24 hours

How are you doing Sharn?
Is baby here yet 🥰?

My contractions started within the hour but it was just like more frequent braxton hicks. Things didn't get serious for me for about 17 hours.
I just kept moving as much as I could the whole time. No induction needed.

My due date was 4th July my waters broke naturally on Sunday 14th July about 1pm. I went to the hospital they checked me over I had no pain or contractions so I was sent home with instructions no bath, no sex etc and to go back the following day at 1pm to be induced. I went back the following day still no pain or contractions until they gave me a sweep about 7pm (the ward was busy which is why I had to wait) that brought my contractions on almost immediately. I was taken to a delivery room around 9 and gave birth about 1am.
