My village

I recently read a book called I Was Told There'd Be a Village (which I highly recommend to anyone who is a parent or will be!) and it touches a lot on how we, as moms, can tend to self isolate due to pressure we put on ourselves and/or societal pressures. This type of isolation is not conducive to a healthy brain and can definitely cause issues outside of just ourselves.

So this year I have spent my time connecting with the village I have and making sure that the people close in my life are the people I really want close to me and boy, it has already shown how amazing it can be! Our family has had a very rough week and a half (I will not go into details) but our close village knows and the absolute amount of support that has poured in has been overwhelming. Normally I would have just kept everything to myself and continued about my life, but letting those close to us know has made things easier. Yes, I still had a whole breakdown session last jight before bed, but I also had 2 friends sending me encouraging messages that I saw after I had regulated again and it lifted me up even more.

All of this to say that the people around you are the people that care. They will uplift and support in the down times. We are also meant to uplift and support one another as well. I know that when I am able to help someone, in any way I can, I feel really good and it strengthens our relationship. So let's go out there and make the world a better place one person at a time 🥰

Baby sleep

3am skills

This week has been rough (stick with me) and last night my daughter woke up at 3am - ish and said she needed food, water, and to potty. We did not make it to the potty in time... But she did forget about food and went straight back too (my) bed afterward. She was laying in bed not going to sleep, squirming around but not really talking, so I figured she was just trying to get comfy. Now, keep in mind that I worked 9 hours (7am-4pm) with no lunch break on Monday, 9.5 hours with no lunch vreak on Tuesday and was doing 9.5 with no lunch break today as well (the lunch breaks were by choice, I did still get to eat at my desk!), so I was EXHAUSTED and just wanted to go bavk to sleep. But suddenly... I hear a very quiet "A B C D.... XYZ... QRS... WXYZ" in a sing songy voice. My 2 year old was singing the ABCs to herself to go back to sleep. I took a second in that moment to just live in the moment of listening to my child recite (to the best of her ability) the ABC's 🥺 I love every skill jump, even if it costs me some sleep. Seeing her thrive, grow, and succeed keeps me going!

Life update

Life has been BUSY!

We got our daughter into a wonderful daycare because I needed to return to work due to finances. I got an incredible job and am working on already transitioning to a higher pay in a different department! Downside is that I work 1st shift and my husband works 2nd, so we dont see each other Monday-Friday due to work and sleep but those weekends! 🥰

My daughters vocabulary has had another explosion and she is now understanding the differences between want and need, saying "please" and "thank you" consistantly. Etc. She is also doing AMAZING potty training (turned 2 in August) and is obsessed with dunosaurs and drawing circles, squares, and triangles (while naming them!)

I have settled a bit into this working mom role again and am ready to get social again! How has everyone been?!
