My son (2.5) and I were sitting at our dining table eating a snack. From where he was sitting he could see out the window at the block of flats next to ours. My son happened to notice a couple out onto their balcony. I couldn’t see them from my seat, so my son gave me a running commentary on what they were doing. It was nothing interesting, just the man sat down. She went inside, now she’s back outside, etc.
He started pointing at them, at which point I asked him to stop as it felt a bit intrusive on their privacy.
Which he did, but continued watching and commenting on what was going on.
The longer it went on, the more weird I felt about it. But he wasn’t really doing anything wrong, so I wonder if I’m just a bit awkward.
Anyway what do you all think?
As space is limited in the poll he are the options:
Answer 1: the couple deserves their privacy, and toddler should have been asked to stop watching them and commenting on them.
Answer 2: watching them was fine, but pointing was a step too far
Answer 3: all of it was no problem. We were in our home, as were the couple. That’s just part of living in close proximity to others
Answer 4: other perspectives, will comment
