How would you explain women have periods to a 5 year old boy?

I have no minute of myself and my son already saw mummy bleeding in the toilet and asked what is that?

WWYD to invite or not to invite?

It is going to be the birthday of our DD and I was discussed with my partner who we are inviting. There is a girl that goes to the same nursery as DD and we also see them at ballet class on the weekends. In nursery ours attend in the morningds and the other girl in the afternoons, so they don't see much each other. During ballet class our girls don't interact much. There are other nursery children in the class that get along more with DD and all of them are invited.

The father of the girl is very nice and we like him, particularly my husband, we chat, say hello-goodbyes, normal... But whenever I encounter the mum at nursery, out and about or on the ballet class, I say hi and she never greets me, looks the other way and ignores me. Note that she does greet my husband, just not me.

Given that our children are not that close and the mother is a bit rude, I thought about not inviting the girl. My partner says we should because we speak to the dad and the best friend of that other girl is also getting invited, so they will find out.

Body temperatures

Long sleeve layers

I know that babies should wear one additional layer than what I would wear. But how do we do that? In autumn I personally generally wear a tshirt and a thin cardigan. And in winter I tend to either wear a tshirt and jumper.

Now I’m unsure on how to dress my son (nearly 2mo). We have long sleeve vests, which I got to use as an extra layer. Do I then put a tshirt over the vest followed by a cardigan or jumper? That just looks a bit strange in my opinion. Or should I put a long sleeve top over his long sleeve body plus then a jumper? That then just seems like a lot of layers on his arms. Also I personally hate the feeling of long sleeves on under another long sleeve item of clothing, but that could be just my sensory issues. Or should I not use the long sleeve vest and buy some short sleeved vests to wear under a tshirt and jumper?

I’m most likely overthinking this, but I would love to hear how everyone else is dressing their babies now it’s getting cold 🤷🏼‍♀️

Please comment other suggestions 🙃

P.S: The poll doesn’t let me use enough characters so I have abbreviated long sleeve to LS and short sleeve to SS

Random parenting question

My son (2.5) and I were sitting at our dining table eating a snack. From where he was sitting he could see out the window at the block of flats next to ours. My son happened to notice a couple out onto their balcony. I couldn’t see them from my seat, so my son gave me a running commentary on what they were doing. It was nothing interesting, just the man sat down. She went inside, now she’s back outside, etc.

He started pointing at them, at which point I asked him to stop as it felt a bit intrusive on their privacy. Which he did, but continued watching and commenting on what was going on.

The longer it went on, the more weird I felt about it. But he wasn’t really doing anything wrong, so I wonder if I’m just a bit awkward.

Anyway what do you all think?

As space is limited in the poll he are the options:

Answer 1: the couple deserves their privacy, and toddler should have been asked to stop watching them and commenting on them.

Answer 2: watching them was fine, but pointing was a step too far

Answer 3: all of it was no problem. We were in our home, as were the couple. That’s just part of living in close proximity to others

Answer 4: other perspectives, will comment
