Did your friends congratulate you for mother's day?

None of my girlfriends have kids and I wondered if it wasn't strange that none of them took a second to wish me happy mother's day. This is my second mother's day.

Mother’s Day realistically is a hallmark holiday. As lovely as it is to be celebrated, it’s for you to give thanks to your Mumma and your child to give thanks to you. Whilst you might have a young child, your partner usually is responsible to help them with a card, perhaps some flowers, maybe breakfast in bed - something that makes you feel loved and gooey inside.

I mean this in the kindest way - you are not your friend’s mother! You can’t expect all of your friends to message you and celebrate with you, a day that isn’t related to them. They are busy celebrating their own Mummas! If no one wished you a happy birthday, it would be valid to ask if that was strange. Of course it would be lovely if a friend sent a quick message to say, ‘Happy Mother’s Day babe, I think you’re nailing it’. I’ve certainly messaged the odd friend, especially if it was their first child to say how amazing I think they are to give them a love boost. Don’t take it personally!

I would not be expecting friends to message that. My mum doesn’t even message that.
