Postpartum period whilst breastfeeding

I am currently 4 weeks pp and exclusively breastfeeding. I have been told that breastfeeding delays the first pp period and it usually happens 6-12 months after birth. I think I got my period today but I am not sure. My pp bleeding stopped around 2.5 weeks pp and haven’t had bleeding since until today, bright red fresh blood but not heavy and no period pains or cramps. Just wanted to ask when everyone else period came back when breastfeeding. Thanks x

Sterilising momcozy M5

I’ve just got one of these pumps and it says in the manual it can’t be steam sterilised it has to be put in boiling water for 5 mins. Does anyone have one? Is this how you sterilise it? Can I boil it in the evening then use it in the morning? Or will it have lost its sterility by the morning?

Breastfed baby hardly pooing

Does anyone have any experience of a young newborn EBF baby not having as many dirty nappies as they "should"? I say that as everything suggests they should produce multiple dirty nappies per day in the early weeks, and this was the experience with my first, but my 5wo can go 2-3 days without a dirty nappy and this has been the case pretty much always, as soon as the meconium all passed in the first few days he's only been going every few days (loads of wet nappies though). I've spoken to all the healthcare professionals going and nobody really knows what to say, because he's gaining weight etc. they just shrug it off. But I know it's very unusual, and the main concern really is that i can see it's causing him discomfort as he's always straining and wriggling and then gets frustrated/upset and resorts to feeding allll the time for comfort - you'd think he'd be pooping a lot more, I honestly don't know where it's all going!!

I'd love to hear from anyone else who's experienced this, just to know we're not the only ones and maybe if you know of anything that helped, or when/how things eventually sorted themselves out...?! I just don't know what to do to help him, and I spend all my days wishing for the next poo 🙈 Just want to know he's happy and comfortable 🥺 his poor little gut really seems to be having a hard time waking up and kicking into action, he's quite gassy too and has some mild reflux, it's all going on.

Shallow and weak latch

I'm struggling a bit with breastfeeding as my newborn seems to be such a lazy feeder! It's almost impossible to get a deep latch - he doesn't open his mouth very wide and barely even shows any interest when a nipple is forced in his face 🙈 when he does latch it is usually shallow unless I've really shoved it in (then I'm reluctant to let go because he will happily let the nipple slide out), and he often has a really weak hold with barely any suction. As you can imagine this is making feeding difficult, he usually gives up after 10mins and I'm worried about it affecting my supply.

If anyone has experienced this could you please share your experiences and any tips or things that worked for you? He's 2.5 weeks old and we've seen a lactation consultant who suggested alternative holds, it's still hard to get him to stay and feed though and I feel i still need to make improvements.

I fed my first and although we struggled with latch for a few weeks, I had no concerns at all about supply as my boobs were big and firm with a strong letdown and it was just so clear that I had an abundance of milk. I had the initial engorgement that you'd expect for the first few weeks. This time my boobs feel floppy and deflated, and although I have some leaking, it just doesn't seem they get full and I'm convinced the flow is quite slow, particularly on one side.

He is putting on weight and doesn't get frustrated so we're getting by, but I really want to use these early days to establish a strong supply and set up for a long and successful feeding journey. I'm lacking confidence in that right now!
