Pumping advice

My little one is 1 week old and I would like to be able to give her expressed milk through the night feeds as I struggle to stay awake during breastfeeding and I would like my partner to help.

I have the Medela Harmony manual pump and wondered how others got on with it and what times of the day you found best expressing as I tried last night and didn't seem to get anywhere, whereas if I use a breastmilk collector I seem to get a good amount while my girl is feeding from the other boob, however it is recommended that you mix collected and expressed milk. Any tips would be appreciated, thanks :)

Pumping mother

Hello Mamas,

My boy was born month earlier. He had latching issues. after multiple visits to lactation consultant, I decided to pump full time. He is going to be 7 month old, sometimes, I try to nurse but he just screams a lot within some seconds of trying. I am just curious to know why he screams? My ped checked and confirmed that he doesn’t have tongue tie.

Latching help

Hey all! I have a newborn who needed to be supplemented on formula while my milk came in. Now he looks for the instant gratification when feeding and gets frustrating with latching. I’m also big chested and have had to use a nipple shield. It’s tough but I’m set on breastfeeding, in the meantime while he struggles I’ve been pumping. Any advice? Any experience with this? I’ll take any tips or tricks I can get!!

Legendairy milk

Has anyone tried their sunflower lecithin? I have a small clogged duct that’s not painful yet but I’m worried it will decrease my milk supply.

Switching to Formula..

Hello ladies, I been nursing my son for 5 months now. Even though he is gaining weight and everything seems to be on target, the older he gets the harder it’s getting. I was able to nurse my daughter until she was 1, and as much as I am up for a challenge things with him are getting a bit frustrating.

He gets fuzzy at night if things don’t happen as soon as he would like and would fall asleep after crying nonstop, only to wake up again in less then an hour 😰 at that point I either have a strong let down and he is happy for an hour maybe 2. Or it takes a while for the milk to come down and the same cycle repeats. I pump during the day at least 3-4 times just to make sure he’s getting enough in between nursing.

However after 5 months of getting maybe 3-4hours of sleep a night and waking up to a very active toddler I am ready to supplement with formula at least at nighttime. When he was born the hospital game him Similac and he would drink it. Well now I tried to reintroduce him to it and he refuses I also tried two other formula brands (Baby’s only and happy baby) both were a fail.

Are any of you supplementing and what brand formula does your baby prefer?

Sorry about the long post 😰
